My objective is to work with people in a helping field. Every job or internship I have taken has always focused on making an individual a better person. I have found working with children who were victims of abuse, adults with a psychotic diagnosis, suicidal clients in crisis, or even inmates who came to prison as perpetrators the client service is only as good as the staff providing the care. I want learn and grow as a healthcare provider. I feel as if I have put myself in many situations where I have applied my skills to a broad spectrum of clients. In choosing to work with various populations in community mental health and the department of corrections, I believe I can better service anyone from any background or situation.
My education covered a curriculum covering diagnosing, medication treatment, counseling theories, and internship and practicum. I also spent two years under supervision before completing my licensure. I have worked with various populations spanning children, adolescents, adults, suicidal clients in crisis, inmates, and more. I mold my counseling technique based on the client's specific problem. I have no hesitation counseling any population. My philosophy is to help the human being heal, I'm not here to judge anyone.
The counseling settings I have worked in include a crisis stabilization unit (where people are under a seventy two hour hold due to suicidal ideations or psychosis), outpatient counseling, inmate counseling at a correctional facility, family counseling, and a school system.

Thank you for listening to me and reassuring me.
I would like to thank Jason so much for all his help and support throughout my counselling. I have tried counselling before but I have never felt listened to in the same way that Jason does. I was given practical ways to help myself throughout my struggles that along with talking therapy made the biggest difference. I would recommend Jason to anyone I have the highest regard for his expertise.
Jason has been thoughtful and concise, he doesn’t make me feel pressured and he lets me set my own pace. He’s been understanding of my therapy apprehensions and is willing to meet on my terms. For example I grew up in the Catholic Church, and one of the vices that I developed is that I feel it’s easier to reveal my true self via confession. Jason has always been willing to take phone calls with me other than video chats, and I feel like that allows me to open up a lot more to have that anonymity of the phone.
So far he has kept up with what he said he would do and even though I’ve been hit and miss. He has offered ways to keep going with counseling even though I have a horrible schedule.
Jason - has been fantastic. I really appreciate how attentive empathetic and compassionate that he is in our sessions and in our communication.
Jason is a wonderful counsellor. I have been trying to get help for years and I feel he actually listens to me and doesn't just treat me like a number and spends time trying to understand me, even when I can't understand myself and makes time for me in a crises. Jason is very knowledgeable, clearly reading around the subject of psychology and counselling a lot of different related topics to find answers to help me outside of our sessions and offers actual therapies and solutions rather than being a parrot and leaving me to do all the work. We are not finished yet but I am confident he can help me get through this and genuinely believe he is the only person that could help me - one in a million.
It’s still pretty early on, but I really appreciate the way Jason listens to me and actually considers what I say when trying to come up with strategies and exercises for me to use. I feel like what he says is customized and not just something he repeats to everyone he works with. I also like how he is able to put things together in a way which I am not able to do myself.
This man is an amazing man. He was the first counselor that actually wanted to talk to me instead of a few before him. He actually is a good guy with a Christian background. Which was very important for me to find. He had talked to me about my anger and I am much better now because of him. I definitely recommend this guy. I really believe Jason can help you with a lot of the problems you may have. Highly recommended!
Jason is an incredibly empathetic counsellor who offers the opportunity for you to process your feelings without feeling judgement. I find his loose, experimental style of counselling beneficial because he allows me to understand the mechanisms at play both in my mind and my outer world view. He is very flexible and allows you to choose your own times, even if you need counselling right away he is often able to clear his schedule to speak to you. I appreciate his counselling for how upfront and kind he is.
I have been working with Jason for a short period of time but within that time he has given me coping mechanisms and insight that have changed my perspective in a positive way.
I still have a ways to go but I firmly believe Jason can help me. It’s nice to able to hike a friendly rapport with your counselor as well as get the help you need.
Jason is able to understand and help me resolve my issues. I feel he has a genuine concern for my well being and cares about helping me complete my journey. Jason is professional yet presents himself in a friendly manner which allow me to be completely open and honest with him. He has already allowed me already to progress further than I expected in our three sessions. His suggestions and worksheets have helped me to understand the roots of the issues I am experiencing. I am grateful to have been given Jason as my counselor!
Jason Avery has been an excellent confidant for me to speak with and he always approaches our discussions in a respectful and kind manner. I have been able to see/feel personal results and achievements that I never imagined possible, thanks to the guidance and support Jason has extended to me.
I highly recommend Jason. His expertise and knowledge is great and the way he is able to put everything across for me to understand and practice it, is truly valuable.
How to describe Jason Avery? He is an amazing professional who really listens, understands and guides you through what ever you are facing. He ensures you feel comfortable, safe and respected. There is nothing bad I can say about Jason, he is amazing and I would recommend to anyone who will listen.
Jason Avery is an outstanding counselor that listens carefully and gives each person the time to express themselves. As a result, after speaking with Jason, people feel more confident and decisive about how to address each challenge that they face. With that said, I strongly recommend Jason Avery as a counselor because he enables those that he speaks with to find both peace and resolution within their lives.
Great guy, listens, takes notes, and focuses on what you need as a client!
Jason has been there for me during a very tricky time in my personal life. It’s been lovely to have someone to off load to and would highly recommend Jason.
Jason is the man. We're only three sessions in and we've already identified clear breakthroughs after 8 years of me taking medication on and off without any talk therapy from local psychiatrists. Glad to have met Jason and definitely recommend him to anybody with issues relating to burnout, self respect, and anxiety.
Jason is a kind and competent mental health professional with a broad range of experience. I found him non-judgemental of my life choices and able to apply his skills to my specific situation. He's clearly working hard to make a difference in people's lives.
Jason Avery has been an amazing counsellor over the time I've spoken with him. I always feel that he is respectful and genuinely wants to help.
Jason is extremely professional and responds in a timely manner.
