Dr. Jay Cadwallader

(M.Div., Ms.Ed., Ed.D./Ph.D.)

About Me

Hello, and thank you for stopping by! I am Dr. Ed Cadwallader and am licensed by and have practiced in the state of Pennsylvania for thirty (30) years. I am licensed and qualified to treat children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, and any constellation taken from those groups. I did both graduate (Masters) and post-graduate (Doctoral) work at Duquesne University and was originally trained in the ‘Psychodynamic’ school of thought. In the time that has passed I have studied additional approaches to patient treatment and have mastered: Systemics, Object Relations, Solution Focused, Cognitive Behavioral, Dialectic Behavioral, Gestalt, Person Centered, Marriage & Family, Attachment Based, Christian, Interpersonal, Narrative, Reality, and Relaxation. My therapeutic style would be best described as ‘non-directive,’ empathetic, and offered in a manner akin to ‘coaching’ another as learning and transformation is able to take place.

I decided to participate in a network like BetterHelp because I wanted to be a part of a clinical system that would be more readily available to those seeking treatment while also often struggling with the overburdened schedules that seem to have become so common for so many. Electronic communication is the chosen mode of connection now and the clinical world needs to be instep with the times! I am pleased to see this positive change and am glad to be a part of a network that can reach many, through convenience and flexibility, who may not otherwise be able to seek a therapeutic relationship.

As we begin treatment together I may ask many questions to gain a better and more clear insight to the issues being identified and described, but it is important, from the outset, that you understand that I will not ‘fix’ you - YOU will ‘fix you!’ I am merely an aid and guide as the items needing to be processed and resolved are addressed in turn. If this sounds like it might be a helpful connection for you, please contact me as I would be very honored to be of service to you.

I have much respect for Dr. Cadwallader. He is always prompt about answering back and flexible with working around my schedule. Also gives you perspective from an outside view, making the "lightbulb" go on in your brain. He is good!

Dr. Cadwallader is very helpful and understanding. His sense of humor makes me feel at ease and able to open up. I never feel like he wants to fix me or change me and instead wants to help me grow.
