About me

Hello. My name is Jayne Praxis. I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Kentucky. I am a non-binary transwoman and my pronouns are she/they. I've been practicing for 13 years. I've worked with clients across the life span and from varied backgrounds. I see the therapeutic process as spiritual in nature for the simple fact that it's about figuring out who you wish to be and setting goals to transform yourself into that person. I believe providing a safe space for clients and cultivating a caring relationship build on acceptance is crucial to the therapeutic process. My role is one of alliance, not authority, to provide tools, support and resources during this particular phase of your life journey.

My approach is somewhat eclectic so as to best fit the needs of the individual. However my foundation is Mindfulness, as this supports a number of interventions, such as Cognitive-Behavioral, Solution Focused, and Somatic Practices. My undergraduate work was in Mythopoetics: Understanding the Self through Cultural Expression, which provides a context for exploring spiritual, religious, cultural, and personal narratives within the clinical setting. My areas of expertise are gender and sexuality, particularly LGBTQ issues, and trauma.

I’m also familiar with a range of spiritual practices, especially Pagan and esoteric practices, and see my role as affirming and supporting client’s spiritual practice to the best of ability. I’m also versed in the polyamory and kink communities and believe that the individuals sexuality are a valid and important part of mental health. My goal is provide a safe space for clients to explore these aspects of themselves should they wish to do so.

I have been working with Jayne for a couple of months now and I’ve learned a lot of things about myself and the tools to manage things that come up over time. They are the best therapist I’ve had yet. I’m so thankful!

I have seen many different counselors in the past and I've never felt like I received adequate care until I was paired with Jayne. I have been seeing Jayne for 6 months and they have helped me so much already. They have equipped me with strategies to manage stress and work though trauma in healthy ways. They are very reaffirming and it has been lovely working with them.

Jayne is an incredible counselor. They are so sharp at asking the right questions to get you thinking, and guides you into realizing things for yourself in a very thoughtful way. One of the key things I look for in a therapist is their ability to ask good questions, as well as how listened to I feel when talking to them. With Jayne, I feel that both needs are met. I personally am an external processor so both are super important to me! I went through several counselors on Better Help before finding Jayne, and I feel so lucky that I did. Would highly recommend Jayne to anyone.
