About me

Greetings! My name is Dr. Jean Marie Thompson and I am a licensed State of Indiana Psychologist and Clinical Addictions Counselor. I enjoy working with a variety of individuals. I strive to work respectfully and collaboratively with each person to assist them reach their goals and find solutions to challenges they face.

I have practiced psychology for over fourteen years and developed a specialty in treating traumatic psychological injuries. Persons who have suffered a sudden traumatic event, for example, an automobile accident, a natural disaster, and an illness, or have had a lengthy traumatic history, for example, abuse, political repression, and discrimination. These traumas may lead to struggles with dysregulation of bodily functions, for example, sleeping, eating, mood, and substance use, as well as finding it difficult to maintain self-esteem and positive relationships. In combination, these issues may lead to overwhelming anxiety, depression, and stress-related health problems. I believe that in therapeutic partnership, there is hope for improvement and recovery from these and related problems.

I spent many years living, studying and working overseas and I feel a particular kinship with expats and people striving to assimilate to a different culture. I have worker with people struggling with immigration problems. I also have personal experience with the special circumstances of both military and rural families.

I truly enjoy the practice of psychology and look forward to working with you.
