I am a Clinical Mental Health Counselor licensed in Utah since 2005. My heritage by bloodline is Mayan Indian and this is an important part of my spirituality, identity, and lifestyle. I am also an artist, musician, and martial arts practitioner. I have been using the arts and imagination to help people connect to their spiritual source and innate healing abilities for over twenty years. Using a combination of techniques learned and practiced from creative arts therapies, somatic depth psychology, research from neuroscience, and more standard behavioral health modalities, I am able to draw from a wide variety of tools and perspectives to guide you through whatever difficulties you may be experiencing.
I began my training working with traumatized children in the 1990s, using art, dance, and music to help children express themselves and heal from horrible experiences. At the same time, I began training in neurofeedback and neuroscience so that I could better understand the mind-body connection. I eventually earned a masters degree in both mental health counseling and expressive arts therapy. Later, I earned my doctoral degree in somatic depth psychology or Jungian psychology, which helps bring in deeper understandings about the human soul and our connection to each other and to nature through our bodies and souls. My research has focused on healing historical trauma in indigenous communities through reconnection to traditional culture.
I have worked in hospitals, jails, schools, substance abuse treatment centers, and outpatient and inpatient clinics, with people of every age, color, and socioeconomic background. I have worked with the seriously mentally ill and people who just need some guidance or someone to talk things out with. Wherever you are in life, you can trust me to listen deeply without criticism or judgement, to help you find the direction you are seeking.
To better understand my approach, let me explain to you my basic beliefs in life, people, and how to be balanced, healthy and well. I believe in each individual's ability to navigate life's difficulties and to find their true path and authentic meanings. I believe each of us holds ancient wisdom within us that we can draw upon--collective wisdom of ancestors recorded in books, traditions, and even in our own bodies. I believe in the human need for intimacy, bonding, and social community. These are difficult times when the modern world tends to isolate and divide people from each other and the pressure to succeed overrides health and happiness. Connecting to your authentic self will help you find rewarding connections with others. I believe in helping people connect to their own sense of spirituality, wherever and however they find it. I also emphasize the importance of listening to your body to find good sources of food, rest, and exercise. Health and wellness of the mind and heart cannot be separated from the body, community and environment.
I look forward to hearing your stories, listening deeply, and offering guidance to help you find your own path to better health and wellness!

I don't think I could have found a better match in counselor. I was really surprised that it worked out so extremely well, and I can't thank her enough for her encouragement and gentle nudging in the right direction. I'm in a much better place with her conversations in my pocket.
Prof. Rodriguez has expertise in so many areas of counseling. She is patient, understanding and is great at explaining something by using an analogy if her client is confused or not able to grasp what is being said. I love that about her. She is so open and has a multitude of experiences. It was easy and comfortable to connect with her. She is neutral and not judgmental. I trust her completely.
Professor Rodriguez is what I was hoping for in a therapist. She's realistic, respectful, and kind.
My experience has been amazing! I didn't think that online counseling would be for me but I figured I would give it a shot. I am so grateful that I did because nothing is more helpful than being able to go back and read our conversations for the past couple of weeks to continue to help me with what I'm struggling with!
Prof. Rodriguez is great. She takes the time to understand your concerns and provides practical advice in a supportive and empowering manner. She has been a great sounding board and has helped me gain more clarity and insight faster than I thought possible. Totally recommend her.
Prof. Rodriguez is phenomenal. I am a particularly complex case and have many diagnoses that previous professionals have told me will never improve. She gives me hope and doesn’t make me feel like I am broken beyond repair. She is extremely intelligent, compassionate, and wise. She pulls answers and resources from a varied database of knowledge she has acquired and meets you where you are. I know she will change my life for the better forever.
I have really enjoyed working with Prof. Rodriguez. She is a great listener and very compassionate to my circumstances. I feel good knowing I can talk with her about anything. She also gives great, actionable steps and tools to take back into my day. I did have to go through a couple of other therapists to find her, but I am SO glad I was matched to her. I highly recommend her
I love Jeannette! She helps you understand difficult times in a new perspective and really go through the feelings and emotions along with the difficulties you are going through. She has helped me to learn to be present in tough times, to understand how important and deserving I am, and how my attitude and perspective can change so much.
Jeannette is a wonderful support and a fantastic counselor.
Jeannette is super helpful and energetic!
Right from the start I knew that Jeanette was the right therapist for me. She honored where I was in my journey and helped me to see an opportunity where before there was a wall. There's something about her counseling that is edgy and raw and I really like that... When I came to her, I was too close to see the big picture and she helped me to take a step back so I could find meaning in the chaos. I would recommend her to anyone.
Through the time spent with Jeannette, I've learned quite a bit about myself, which gave me a better understanding about my true problems that I wasn't even aware of. She is truly caring and indeed a good listener, having the right words at the right time. Thank you Jeannette for being there for me and listening to my problems :)
She is very nice, talk me through and help me to clarify which thoughts will make me feel positive, to reinforce my strengths together with allow my emotions to flow in the good direction. A friend to share and an elder to guide :) Thank you Jeannette!
