About me

Welcome! My name is Jeff and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor residing in McFarland, Wisconsin. I have over seventeen years experience as a counselor, providing therapeutic services in a variety of settings and environments including Private Practice. I earned my Master's degree in Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in 2002. My experience includes working with individuals across age groups, belief systems, ethnicity, and socio-economic upbringing who were suffering emotionally, and challenged by the events and circumstances of their life both past and present. I am honored to have had the opportunity to share in their stories and join with them in the discovery and development of in the moment coping strategies and skills, as well as personal empowerment for their own long-term self leadership.

I would describe my approach as client centered grounded in the belief that individuals have the emotional resources and power to set and achieve goals and attain happiness and satisfaction in their lives, but often cannot do it alone. I draw on select parts of a variety of therapy models and tools, but the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model is my starting point and often becomes a primary framework for the session with its clearly defined mechanisms for self-growth and emotional change. It cannot be overstated that treatment plans and therapy sessions are individualized and make room for the individual’s preferences and direction, as to what has worked or not worked in the past. A specific therapy or intervention is never forced.

That you are reading this and considering a therapy support is evidence of your strength and a commitment to yourself. I look forward to the chance to join you in that commitment with empathy and professional skill.
