About Me
Hello and welcome! I am a licensed counselor living in Asheville, North Carolina. I received my master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at Western Carolina University. I have worked in integrated health and community mental health for four years, helping individuals of all ages build resiliency in the face of life’s challenges. I have experience working with trauma and abuse, grief, shame, low self-esteem, conflicts in relationships, parenting challenges, life transitions, anxiety and depressive disorders, self-sabotaging beliefs and behaviors, and dysregulated emotions. To be convinced that you are broken or inappropriate in some way is a difficult place to move from. My passion as a counselor is to provide a safe and trusting space where, together, we rediscover your inherent value so you can live the life you truly want to live.
My clients and colleagues describe my approach to counseling as empowering, compassionate, intuitive, and collaborative. Some of the techniques I work with are narrative therapy, expressive arts, cognitive and behavioral techniques, somatic experiencing, mindfulness, metaphor, and humor. I acknowledge that your life journey is unique, and it takes courage and vulnerability to begin counseling.
I am honored to be a supportive presence in your life. I look forward to working with you!

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Jenni Hockenberry. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
I am so incredibly thankful to have been matched with Jenni. I would not be where I am today without her.
Jenni is one of the kindest people I have ever known. She consistently provides me with new ways to better my mental health, and working with her has helped me immeasurably. I feel that she is more than a therapist—she is my friend.
My time in therapy with Jenni has been a blessing, an answer to prayer.
Jenni has been an element of stability during a few month span where things felt rudderless. She's been attentive, suggestive with challenges, reflective in observations, rewarding in acknowledging my progress, while instrumental helping identify some inner struggles and face them with a more confident approach while awakening some self realizations that have been so important for me to embrace and accept. No matter the format, we've found a way to connect and embark on my journey together, which has been a blessing to find someone to have that symbiotic relationship during a time of such significant change and reflection.
