About me

Hey There!
You are a courageous young woman who appears to have everything together, but inside you feel like you are not being your true self.

YOU’RE FEELING LIKE NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY, NOTHING IS GOOD ENOUGH. YOUR BODY AND YOUR MIND HAVE TAKEN THE ULTIMATE TOLL, AND YOU’RE EXHAUSTED.
It has been hard for you to stop the messages you have received from consuming your every day. You find yourself constantly battling the demons in your head that tell you you’re not good enough, you’re not doing life “right”, and your body is not “perfect”

It is a challenge for you because you feel like you’re just surviving and not living life. Being strong and pretending that everything is okay has gotten you far. But you don't know who you are without that external facade to protect you from feeling like you are being criticized.

You know you deserve to have a kinder relationship with yourself but don't know where to begin. It scares you because the real you feel so far gone that you do not know where to start looking again.

IT'S EXHAUSTING TO KEEP WEARING THE MASK.
You no longer want to hide your real self or listen to those whispers of doubt from either the outside world or from within yourself.

I’m here to tell you those messages you have received are not true! You’re not fat, you’re not dumb, you’re not slow, and being “different” is not a bad thing!
I can help tame your inner critic and throw away the mask. I see the struggle and strength in all my clients. I know you can achieve what you choose because you no longer hide behind the mask.

Hi! I’m Jennie, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I am a member of the International Eating Disorder Association (IAEDP). I am currently working towards becoming a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS).

Mission: I see my clients as they are amazing individuals with the ability to not only overcome but to achieve. I understand how hard it can be to talk to a stranger about your problems. Perhaps it’s hard for you to be vulnerable because, in the past, you’ve been told “No” or felt rejected for expressing how you feel. I understand how badly you just want to feel like yourself again and how you don’t know what that would even look like.

Passion: I know things can change because I know the benefits of talking to someone who truly cares and has been there before. The work I do is part of who I am, but it does not define me as a person.

Dedication: I can help you by identifying core issues that have plagued you for far too long. I can help you by listening to you, being a support to you, and giving you the guidance you both want and need. I can help you by letting you borrow some of my hope when you feel like you have none left.

When we work together, we can address:
Eating Disorders counseling is intended to help people who struggle with their relationship with food, do not like who they see when they look in the mirror and desire to be more content with their bodies. Food does not have to define how they see themselves.

Anxiety Therapy is for those who feel like stress and worry are running their lives. The intruding thoughts are keeping you from living the life you want.

With Learning Disorders, I work with individuals who are diagnosed with a learning disorder either recently or life-long and who are struggling with how to navigate through everyday life, while feeling different.

My counseling style is warm, interactive, and nonjudgmental. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in the stigmatization of mental illness. My approach is primarily cognitive-behavioral of counseling. I will tailor our dialog to meet your individual needs and goals.

It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling, happier life, and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I would be happy to have the opportunity to support and empower you on your journey.

Jennie has helped me so very much. We have been working together for a year now and I’m so glad to have her in my corner as I tackle the difficult patterns and the things in my life that overwhelm me. She knows my issues well, and helps me think of ways to approach them. She listens intently, and just being able to freely express my feelings and thoughts to her is so helpful in and of itself. But she also offers great advice and is incredibly compassionate. I’m very grateful for her help, insights and caring demeanor. She is a great therapist for me!

I’ve grown so much as a person working with Jennie Friedman. She genuinely listens, gets to know me, my goals, my fears and my spirals. She finds ways to help my stubborn, independent self work on self-development in ways I don’t always want to talk about by means of good journal prompts, non-judgemental sessions and a level of “kick in the ass” I need. She has been such a joy to work with. Highly recommend.

Jennie Friedman has been helpful and insightful in our time in discussions. I appreciate the extra time she takes to just touch bases throughout the week even prior to our sessions.

Jennie has helped me navigate the most trying and devastating period of my young adult life. Each week, she has listened diligently and never once judged my story. I am eternally grateful for BetterHelp because it led me to Someone who I could truly be vulnerable with and take the steps towards rediscovering myself. I have been working with Jennie for about 5 months and it was the best decision of my life.

Jennie is an amazing therapist, I’ve only worked with her for a short time now but she is by far the best therapist I’ve ever had. She always gives me support, and brilliant ideas to help me just live my life better. She’s caring and considerate and I love her :)

I've love working with Jennie, so far! We've only had one session, so my feedback and experience is limited, but she was helpful and gave me some new anxiety coping methods I haven't used before. I'm feeling hopeful and excited to continue to work with her.

I believe our sessions are positive for me. We discuss my issues and concerns in depth, and I feel safe sharing background and context. She is a very good listener, and contributes to move the session and therapy forward. Very good experience for me to this point.

Work with me!
