About me

Welcome.
If you are unsure about reaching for guidance and support, I encourage you to continue on this path in adding counseling to your journey. I am saying this from a personal and professional standpoint. Prior to becoming a therapist, I was client and believe therapy was a critical part of my recovery and healing. I recommend that you review the profiles of several providers, it is important to have a fit and connection with your therapist.

I have a background in education (special education), counseling, real estate, and finance/insurance. I have around 20 years experience in education and as a therapist and spent some time in the business world before returning to mental heath. About 8 years ago, I decided to make a change in my career path due to family’s needs (especially for my children). I gained experience in the real estate field and in the finance/insurance world. I believe that my additional professional experiences in various business settings will enable me to be a stronger person and therapist.

As a professional clinical counselor, I have worked with teenagers and adults that have battled a range of issues including: eating disorders, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, bi-polar disorder, life adjustment stressors, and behavioral issues. I have also worked with couples and families to nurture change and healing in their relationships.
My therapeutic style is to meet my clients where they are and gain an understanding of their life including areas of concern and strengths. I believe counseling is about understanding the many different aspects of person and developing a treatment plan of healing and growth. My approach often combines strategies from cognitive behavioral strategies, solution focused therapy, and spiritual base counseling from a systems perspective. Everyone is unique and the strategies, approach, and goals are client driven.

The following is one of my favorite quotes and find it helps me with clarity:
Ego says, "Once everything falls into place, I'll feel peace." Spirit says, "Find your peace, and then everything will fall into place." -- Marianne Williamson.
At times, Life may feel like you jumped on a roller coaster that goes through some crazy tunnels. You do not have to go through the ups, downs, and dark spots alone.
Counseling is a process and support that can lead to change, growth, and healing.
I look forward to working with you!
