About me

Hello and welcome to Betterhelp! My name is Jennifer. I have both Master’s and Education Specialist degrees in Counseling, with a specialization in Couples and Family. I also received my Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from Duke and am a practicing Registered Nurse. I’ve worked as a licensed therapist in North Carolina for over 17 years. I work frequently with difficult relationship dynamics whether in families or among romantic partners. I do quite a bit of work in trauma recovery, anxiety and stress reduction, resiliency building, and identity development. Mine is a holistic, positive, supportive approach that promotes self-awareness and the interruption of unhelpful patterns of thoughts and behaviors that lead to being "stuck". I teach mindfulness, yogic interventions and encourage gratitude and curiosity in my clients!

I'm a good fit for those who are struggling to understand themselves or their relationships as well as those who continue to meet obstacles in creating the kind of lives and relationships they'd like. Presenting concerns may include PTSD/trauma symptoms, anxiety, depression, intense anger, difficulty coping or transitioning, challenges with relationships, and poor body image (with or without eating concerns).

In my spare time I enjoy hiking, beekeeping and chasing my two sons! I hope we are a good fit and look forward to connecting with you.

Jennifer has helped me confront and engage in recovery for an eating disorder, anxiety, and postpartum depression/anxiety. She has been an invaluable support system to me and I always feel relieved after talking to her.

Jennifer has helped me a lot as support to get me through some difficult self discoveries and help me organize my thoughts. When I'm struggling she has useful tips and tools to help me get back on track. She's been a huge help to me. I'm a person who comes and goes from therapy as needed, but each time I return it's to Jennifer.

Jennifer and I have worked together for quite some time now and the transformation I’ve had as an individual is so refreshing. She has offered a variety of different helpful avenues and been a cheerleader and guider thru some turbulent times. In the past I would go to therapy then drop off when it got tough...Jennifer saw me thru this and helped me over this obstacle. I’m forever thankful.

Therapy with Jennifer feels like talking to an old friend. I look forward to it all week. She holds the space for me to explore my own thoughts and feelings, and notices patterns that I would never have figured out on my own. She is always supportive, kind, and wise. Jennifer is just one of those people who was born to be a therapist.

Jennifer is kind and empathetic. I always feel heard and she helps relay what I have said to her in a new way so that I can see it in a different perspective.

Jennifer is wonderful and has helped me in so many ways in the short amount of time that we've been working together. She's very patient,
relatable, and knowledgeable. I've never felt judged at any point in time. I'm grateful to have come across an awesome therapist like her.
