Jennifer Emerson, LMFT
About me
Hello, I am glad you are here! I believe that our moments of greatest struggle can also hold the most potential for growth and self-discovery. The struggles we face are an invitation from ourselves to deepen and grow. I am dedicated to providing a safe and supportive place in which you can begin to explore what is causing distress in your life. Together we can illuminate your unique strengths and pave a path toward greater self-understanding and ease.
I am fascinated by people and relationships. Since 2003 I have been treating both adults and children in a variety of settings. I have an MS in Counseling from California State University East Bay, and I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist both in California (MFC# 46172) and in Vermont (100.0116919). I believe that we all deserve compassion and support as we navigate our path to greater understanding of ourselves and our loved ones. As the parent of a special needs child, I am continually humbled by the ways this role challenges me to work and grow personally each day.
I currently offer counseling and psychotherapy services for individual adults, couples, and teens who are struggling with a variety of concerns. I offer specialized services for perinatal women and for families with children age 0-5. Understanding the profound importance of this period, I have spent the last 15 years studying how to best support early parent-child relationships. I utilize a combination of attachment focused, client-centered, strength-based, and solution-focused modalities to support these goals. I invite you to reach out directly in order to gain a better sense of who I am and the work that I do with my clients. I would be honored to join you in the process of healing and deepening self-knowledge.

Jennifer has been great since the first session. She really listened and focused on my primary concerns. She went above and beyond regarding duration of our session; no rush at the end. She addressed my main concerns very effectively from the beginning, and she asked smart questions, provided insightful comments as expected, no "low-yield talk", and she continued to listen carefully always using mirroring techniques and empathy. Thank you for all that you do, Jennifer!
