About me

Hello, my name is Jennifer, and welcome to your 'safe space'. Feeling truly heard and listened to can make the difference to help you explore what is happening for you right now; and to you getting to know and understand yourself to do things differently.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) ; and I adhere to their Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Being an integrative psychotherapist means I have a client-centred approach to counselling. I am trained in different modalities - and this means working with you collaboratively; we can tailor the right intervention which supports your process; providing an opportunity for you to develop a stronger sense of self; supporting you to recognise your own attitudes, feelings and behaviour; and empowering you to find your own true positive 'self', and reach your full potential.

I do this by creating a consistent, appropriate safe, non-judgemental environment; where you will experience my communicating congruence (genuineness), empathy, and unconditional positive regard towards you. The non-directive approach I use enables you to find your own solutions to your problems and concerns.

Confidentiality: our therapeutic relationship is built on trust, the foundation that is fundamental to your process of healing, your growth, your personal development. I, too, am committed to continuing my personal and professional development. I am currently in the 2nd year of the 3rd term of a Doctorate programme in Existential Psychotherapy and Counselling at the NSPC/ Middlesex University.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Jennifer Garner. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Written on Jan 24, 2023 after therapy with Jennifer for 5 months on issues concerning stress, anxiety, addictions, lgbt, family conflicts, trauma and abuse, grief, intimacy-related issues, eating disorders, sleeping disorders, self esteem, anger management, career difficulties, coaching, compassion fatigue, and adhd

Jennifer has a beautifully creative, collaborative and compassionate approach to working with her Clients . She introduced many different tools and approaches I'd never explored before, explaining the purpose of each exercise and how each piece worked together. It felt like a partnership , time we both had a equal say in and responsibility for steering. She listen to and encouraged feedback on what worked or resonated for me and adapted accordingly. I felt that she put a lot of time , care and reflection in to working with me and supporting my needs. Some times previous counselling has felt very 'off the peg' and not supported my ways of processing information as a neurodivergent person - working with Jennifer felt very different. I feel I've been equipped with activities and practises I can take in to daily life and that I have a new perspective on things due to her support. I really appreciated my time with her and all that I learnt. I'm definitely leaving with more appreciation for joy and rest - radical concepts for me!

Jennifer has been absolutely fantastic. She is incredibly supportive as well as incisive and persistent at getting to the root causes of things. She has been great at giving me the space to work out things and to engage in dialogue and various exercises to work things through.
She has also been someone to just talk to, even if it's just some rambling! I would 100% recommend Jennifer.

Jennifer has helped me connect my thoughts to my behaviours. She’s allowed me to structure everything and work through the things that I was curious about. Only good remarks

I worked with Jennifer over a couple of months and made so much progress in understanding the main issues I have been struggling with, which are all connected. Jennifer listened with compassion, supported me in seeing which areas I need to work on, and gave me the tools to get started . I so much appreciated her insightful observations and always felt a sense of clarity after each session - thank you so much Jennifer!

I have long considered therapy but didn't know who to go to and where to begin. I have only just started my sessions with Jennifer but already I feel she can read me in a way that I absolutely didn't expect. I have started to recognise deep-rooted thoughts that are contributing to how I feel and it's allowing me to tackle anxieties that I feared would remain with me for life. Her manner, knowledge, understanding and kindness are already invaluable in my life, allowing me to start to recognise that I do deserve to take the time to explore the way I feel, rather than pushing down those nagging fears and anxieties. An the end of each session I feel I am getting more and more clarity and that constant support is allowing me to be more honest with myself and my loved ones and opening up conversations that are, in turn, helping me to develop a better understanding of myself. In short, I cannot recommend Jennifer enough. In fact, I have already recommended her to many of my friends and family. I am excited for what we can achieve together. Thank you for everything you do Jennifer

I've been working with Jennifer for about 6 months now. When I first started my therapy sessions with her I was in a really anxious space but I also wasn't sure if therapy was for me. Jennifer helped me address the root of my anxiety and worked with me to change my relationship with anxiety and workaholism. She is realistic and listens. She has helped me to set boundaries in both my work life and my personal life which I didn't realise were causing me to over-commit myself to things I didn't have the time or capacity to do and she is really good at acting as a voice of reason when I'm catastrophising or don't know how to reframe my anxious thoughts. I thought I had reached a plateau with my progress when I felt no real changes but Jennifer showed me how much progress I had been making and she would review weekly with me how I was progressing. I can now go to work knowing I will be leaving at a good time and making time to see friends and family (I used to work until 8pm maybe later). I feel like I'm living life in the moment and I've learnt to be a lot more interoceptive. As a black woman it has been really affirming having someone who understands life from the same perspective and doesn't belittle my experiences ever. I can't thank her enough for all her help and support. I really recommend her.

Jennifer has been really wonderful to work with. This was my first time trying therapy and it’s made me recommend it to everyone I know. She gives me the space to be vulnerable and feel understood, but also helps me understand the situation in different viewpoints too. Jennifer has helped me in my journey of accepting myself and improving my relationship anxiety. She has provided me with helpful tools to embed these new beliefs. I couldn’t recommend her enough and have really enjoyed seeing the difference in myself after my sessions with her. Thank you so much Jennifer and hope to see you very soon.

Jennifer is amazing! Her depth of knowledge, understanding, intuitive mind and of course, her really warm and encouraging nature, have been invaluable in helping me through the last few months. Her ability to offer insightful & alternative views to the areas of our discussions, have been absolutely essential to facilitating my ability to take those ideas and suggestions and apply them in my life. She has enabled me to expand on these ideas and grow in ways that I didn't realise were possible, before our sessions. Life-changing stuff! 100% recommend!

Jennifer is an incredible specialist. She helped me with self-love, overcoming addiction, and dealing with bad habits. Her knowledge is abundant. She has great listening skills and is incredibly insightful.
Our sessions were on time and incredibly helpful. Even when I had technical or language difficulties she was patient with me.
Would highly recommend her!

I was very low when Jennifer started to help me. In our sessions I learned how to heal, love and know myself, and that little practices everyday can really change my destiny. I never felt judged, misunderstood or rushed. Jennifer was always supportive, good listener and always had good advice.
Thank you so much for always being there for me and always checking up between sessions.

No matter what’s happening, Jennifer’s approach is to calmly bring you back to the fact that everything stems from a dedication to the internal work that we must continually do. By embracing that all of our positive and negative facets live within in us, we can begin to heal. Most importantly for Jennifer is to help you realize that, giving you the tools to then act upon that realization and help yourself. I leave every session with Jennifer feeling hopeful about the coming week.

Jennifer is an amazing therapist. I've done both online and in person therapy in the past and never felt I was making progress until now. I've made more progress in 2 sessions with Jennifer than any therapy I've done before. I came here for therapy due to a relationship breakup but Jennifer has identified a major issue which affects many areas on my life that I wasn't even aware of when I entered therapy due to my breakup. She speaks to me like I am a human instead of just another "client" and really knows what she's talking about. To be able to identify a major issue in my life after just 2 sessions which I know is the root cause of many other issues in my life, I am really looking forward to the coming weeks/months working with Jennifer.

Jennifer is wonderful and helped me to overhaul my thought processes and habitual reactions in a few sessions. I am so happy with the work we achieved together and how the sessions were scheduled and managed.

I never felt rushed or judged and Jennifer always checked in midweek and was very responsive. I wouldn't hesitate to use Jennifer's expertise in the future should I ever feel the need to.

Thanks again Jennifer - you are wonderful at your job :)

Jennifer has changed my perspective in life completely. I came to her with self- esteem issues after depression & anxiety. She has a holistic approach to therapy and can identify the real causes thats bothering you. I wish she was mine and only my personal therapist overall, but again I know that she is capable of changing many more lives here at BetterHelp. Her one of the quotes was : "If you feel small in your environment, then make your inner world bigger, else this big big world would swallow you up" and it touched me so much. I am so grateful for her and dear Jennifer, thank you, you're so excellent at your job!

I have really enjoyed my sessions with Jennifer - she is very welcoming and kind at all times and she lets you get everything that is overwhelming you, out of your mind. She never rushes any sessions and it always seems as if the sessions end naturally. Also, she makes an effort to always check up on you between sessions so I would definitely recommend her to others!

Jennifer has been extremely valuable and I only wish I’d found her sooner - extremely warm, understand, accommodating and supportive with the ability to help me make lasting improvements to my mental health!

Written on Aug 12, 2022 after therapy with Jennifer for 2 months on issues concerning relationship issues, and family conflicts

I initially found Jennifer when I was having an internal personal crisis and needed support from someone objective. I have since had weekly meetings with her for over 2 months and in that time, she has been absolutely invaluable in helping through my immediate challenges but more importantly helping me to unpick the reasons and background to the challenge that brought me to her in the first place. She is non-judgemental, pragmatic and smart when it comes to her advice - and she uses a number of techniques to help unpick certain thought processes and has helped me to understand myself better. As I mentioned to Jennifer, I don't know how I could have made it through the last couple of months without her and I now feel like a mentally stronger person for it. Thanks for everything Jennifer.
