About me

Hello-

Thank you for visiting my profile!

Feeling stuck in the same old argument that seems to happen again and again? Do you feel as if you are stuck repeating the same patterns of interactions with others in your life and you don't seem to know why? Or maybe you just feel stuck in your life repeating the same behaviors to similar situations in your life, regardless of how YOU know it does not work for you! Well trust me! You are not the only one and I am here to help!

My name is Jennifer Goldenberg and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of Florida and New York. I started practicing and working with families working at non-profit agencies such as Children's Aid Society, working as a certified multi-dimensional family therapist, where I worked with acting out youths. In many of those families I assisted with opening up communication between teens and their parents in the middle the many life stressors living in NYC. I have worked in many capacities with families and couples over the years, in community clinics, substance abuse programs, non-profit mental health agencies, mobile crisis (for mental health) services, as well as in the preventive DCF world. I have helped many families facing a multitude of struggles, from coping with trauma, abuse, impact of domestic violence upon an individual and the family as a whole, impact of substance use again with the individual and the family as a whole. With my vast experiences I have an understanding of how poverty, addiction and Trauma, can truly impact a family dynamic. I have worked with families and individuals who have experienced anxiety, depression, abuse/neglect, parenting difficulties, addiction, stress, loss, struggling with different transitions, as well as very day life stressors.

I would describe my approach as empathetic, warm, goal oriented, and client centered. We will work together to create goals you identify and focus on what you believe needs to change in your life. Everyone's path is different and everyone needs individualized approaches so I use a combination of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Multi-Dimensional Family Therapy, and Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy to help my clients set goals and objectives, work through their traumas, and feel empowered once they have met their goals. I would say my approach is a post-modern, holistic response to issues individuals, couples, and families face day to day, helping individuals overcome stressors in their daily lives, while assisting with opening up communication with significant relationships in their lives. I help to improve and rebuild the trust between family members as well as help each individual feel understood by their child, parent, and significant others. Some of the focus might be around exploring where the communication and relationship starts to get "stuck." Talking to each other may sound easy at times, but a lot can get lost in trying to be heard and understood, especially when emotions are running high. I help to improve this by strengthening those relationships and help to develop a more positive energy between family members and significant others. At times I have used mindfulness techniques as well to help individuals feel focused, grounded and remain present in the moment. This helps to prevent those feelings of getting "stuck" from sneaking up on us, and to help breathe and focus through feelings of anxiety or other stressors. It can also help individuals feel more attune to their feelings and help strengthen insights, without getting lost in past experiences.

I attained my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Hofstra University, in New York after receiving my Bachelor's Degree at SUNY University at Buffalo in Psychology and a minor in Sociology, again in the state of New York.

I am so happy you have taken this first step in looking for assistance, reaching out for help, and looking into providers. I look forward to talking to you soon and entering this journey together to help you feel more satisfied and secure in who you are!
