Hello! My name is Jennifer and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas and am also licensed through the state of Michigan. I earned a Master of Science in Counseling degree with a concentration in Mental Health. Over the past 7 years, I have counseled adults in the areas of anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and family issues. My experience also has consisted of counseling teens in a residential treatment facility who had sexually offended and working with children and adults who have been abused and/or neglected. I have experience providing individual, group, family and couples therapy in the areas of victimization, trauma, coping skills, forgiveness, self-esteem, conflict resolution, family reunification, and relapse prevention for sex offenders.
Everyone is different and therefore my therapeutic approach is eclectic. This approach incorporates a variety of therapeutic principles in order to meet the specific needs of each individual client. I specifically enjoy using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and Client-Centered Therapy. I look forward to working with you to create a plan after accessing your needs and concerns. The ultimate goal of your counseling experience is to acquire the tools to promote positive change for personal growth and to positively cope with life events.
I consider myself to be warm, down-to-earth, and approachable. I love to look at the perspective of others in order to understand them and communicate with them more effectively. Congratulations on having the courage to seek counseling! I am glad to take this journey with you.
