I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of New York. I recently moved to California and am actively working towards obtaining my dual-license as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I have about four years of experience in working with individuals in a variety of settings. I have worked with victims of domestic violence, perpetrators of sexual violence, addiction and substance use, individuals with a dual diagnosis and individuals who have been involved with the criminal justice system. Through these experiences, I have assisted with concerns such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, relationship issues, interpersonal relationships, career challenges, self-esteem, anger, bipolar disorder, trauma (physical, emotional and sexual abuse), psychotic disorders, and personality disorders.
My counseling style is warm, patient and empathetic. I strongly believe in treating other individuals with respect and kindness. To me, therapy is a place for an individual to be able to express their thoughts or feelings, maybe for the first time in their lives, in a safe space and without any judgment. I strongly disagree with stigmatization of individuals. However, I do believe there is growth in holding an individual accountable and challenging an individual’s thoughts in order to help them grow. My approach is overall a cognitive-behavioral approach but I do believe in taking an eclectic standpoint when searching for the most appropriate and/or beneficial therapeutic technique to address the client’s individual needs.
Admitting something is off-balance or wrong is challenging, but reaching out and asking for help takes courage. You’re already a step in the right direction and I hope I can be with you to take the next step in your life in a positive direction.
Looking forward to working with you!
