About Me
I am a clinical social worker licensed in California, Kansas and New Hampshire with over 20 years of experience working as a psychotherapist. My PhD in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Depth Psychology has allowed me to expand, even further, a level of competency and capacity for those hurting. I have worked with a wide range of populations that include both residential and outpatient settings. Treatment requests have focused on complex grief and loss, interpersonal difficulties, anxiety, depression, complex trauma and phase of life issues. For example, you might have a complicated relationship with your mother and it's impacting your sense of self but you aren't sure how to even talk about it. This year (2020) has also been unprecedented. I am prepared to recognize and include any of those concerns with stress presented in your life.
My counseling style is warm, interactive, empathic and attuned. I consider our time together sacred ground and take the courage and risk to reach out seriously. I do not subscribe to stigmatizing labels. My approach utilizes trauma informed cognitive-behavioral, humanistic and psychodynamic modalities. I have also completed a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training program and certification in mental health integrative medicine. As such, I will ensure we tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your unique, specific needs.
This whole counseling-therapy 'thing' takes tremendous courage.
If you are ready -- I am here.
I look forward to an opportunity where we can meet and connect.

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Dr. Jennifer Nestell (Nielsen). We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
She is amazing and unconventional in the best way. I love her approach. She is a breath of fresh air after years of therapy. I really would recommend her to anyone needing a different approach at a dead end.
Jennifer has been an amazing help to me. She is always supportive and helps me to reframe the way I view things and find coping methods to help me move forward. She responds promptly, is flexible around what I can manage. I am so grateful to have found her through BetterHelp
