About me

Hello! My Name is Jennifer Simmons. I am an LPC licensed in the state of Connecticut. I have an MS in counseling and I have 9 years of counseling experience. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, postpartum depression/anxiety, family conflicts, coping with grief and loss, parenting issues, social behavior, career, and crisis counseling.

My goal as a counselor is always to provide a safe, supportive, and encouraging environment. I see my role as a counselor as someone who meets my clients where they are and helps guide them to where they want to be through empathy and unconditional positive regard. Every person I work with is unique in their needs and my theoretical orientation is an integrated approach that includes a humanistic person-centered foundation and cognitive behavioral therapy when appropriate to meet the needs of the whole person. When applicable I like to include mindfulness practices into my sessions with clients as well.

My counseling experience has centered around working in large urban cities with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds. I welcome folks from all walks of life, backgrounds, orientations, identities, and religion. I consider myself an open-minded, ethical, and compassionate counselor. I look forward to getting to know you more as you embark on this new journey of self-care.

Beyond surprised, her ability to help me work with and understand my issues is incredible. She is great at talking about her own personal experiences to connect with me and make me feel like my difficulties can be identified with someone I look up to and think is bad ass. Her compassion, her presence, understanding and support makes me feel so grateful. Jennifer is someone I will be checking in with for many years.
