My name is Jennifer Smith and I am a licensed clinical social worker/ licensed clinical addiction specialist in North Carolina with 12 years of experience in a clinical setting. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship concerns, parenting concerns, ADHD, poor motivation and self esteem. I am also certified as a clinical trauma professional.
I believe that effective therapy is a partnership between the clinician and you. Goals should be based on your needs and symptoms with my experience helping guide you through your journey. I have extensive experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness techniques, Exposure Therapy, Solution Focused therapy and grief counseling.
My life experiences have helped shape me to be a more genuine and empathic person desiring to help others live a happier, more fulfilling life. I believe we all experience trials and tribulations. I am no different. I knew after personal losses and family trauma I wanted to spend my career helping others learn to cope and overcome. I believe support and guidance is essential. I am a great listener, down to earth and open minded. I love to see people regain the happiness, ability to control their symptoms and/ or learn to manage often unfair life circumstances .

I've been in therapy with Jennifer for about 3 years now, transitioned from in person to only in be . I appreciate her compassion and genuine care about me as a person. I feel supported in achieving my goals and have seen major success in reaching for my goals. I also enjoy her sense of humorin helping me laugh at absurdities in life that come along. Jennifer Smith is a wonderful person and very compassionate counselor. She is a person that not only will understand what you are going through but will do anything to help.
Jennifer is WONDERFUL. I have gotten so much out of my sessions with her. She has the warm, caring personality I was looking for while also being experienced in dealing with family members with personality disorders, which was important to me. I would highly recommend her.
I just started doing counseling, and it was a huge step for me. With Jennifer I feel safe and like I can talk to her about anything. I am still new but I am thankful I have met Jennifer, I know she will truly make a difference in my life. I have a good feeling about this.
Jennifer has been so much help! She makes me feel more confident in my decisions but also gives me the little push I need. When I just need to be upset or vent or talk she is always someone I feel like I can send a quick message to and know I won't get a "it will be ok" message but instead a thought out message that helps me!
Jennifer has been extremely helpful to me as I learn to manage my new ADHD diagnosis. Her support comes in a variety of ways -- listening to my struggles, offering validation, and coming up with practical, manageable, and realistic ways to improve my quality of life. I highly recommend her to those struggling with ADHD!
