My counseling style is supportive and compassionate, yet challenging when necessary. It is important that you trust and feel comfortable with your counselor. You should know that I've completed graduate programs at Indiana University and Indiana Wesleyan University. I hold a MS degree in Counseling from IU and a Post-Masters certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy from IWU. I'm licensed in both Indiana and Florida. I’m a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and have been listed on referral networks for both New Life Ministries and Focus on the Family.
There are times when the weight of our troubles is too much for us to carry on our own. Sometimes the troubles and losses we experience can cause anxiety, stress, depression, hopelessness and despair. If you experience these things, the wise and courageous thing to do is to ask for help. I have been counseling couples and individuals in a private practice setting for 17 years. I have focused heavily on the study and treatment of Mood Disorders, including Adjustment Disorders, Depressive Disorders, and Anxiety-Related Disorders. I work with premarital and married couples, and individuals facing anxiety, depression, grief/loss, relationship issues, parenting challenges, life transitions and women's issues. I specialize in working with women experiencing perinatal mood disorders including Postpartum depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, OCD and PTSD. One in seven women suffer from one of these disorders, yet it is vastly under treated and under reported.
I look forward to working with you to attain the goals you have for your therapy. Starting is the hardest part, so don't delay!

She is amazing and very helpful!
Jennifer Wheat is amazing! She listens and understands me and gives me the best advice on whatever it is that is troubling me. She gives the best advice when it comes to relationships. I’m glad she became my counselor and I would definitely recommend her to anyone that wants to better themselves.
Jennifer was able to zero in on the issue even when I had trouble explaining it. She asked me questions to get me focused on the problem. She was frank and matter of fact with me. I think we got to the heart of the issue quickly because of that.
I like Jennifer because she meets me where I am instead of using a cookie cutter approach which a lot of counselors do. Also, I like the way she knows the Bible very well and has a Bible verse to help me work what ever problem I have.
