About Me

If you are looking to achieve more balance in your life, you are in the right place! You will experience healing, growth and change on your therapeutic journey with me. I believe it takes a great deal of courage to seek help, and I am here for you with genuine care and compassion. I will work with you from a holistic standpoint as I firmly believe that the mind and body are connected, and that there are tools within you that we can access together to guide you to that place of balance. You can change your life with the help of a trusted therapist.

My name is Jennifer Yates and I have a Bachelor's in Psychology, a Masters in Counseling and am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California. I have 20 years of experience in counseling . I have been trained extensively in depression, anxiety, relationship issues, self-esteem and trauma. I have an expertise in these areas and in my private practice work with women dealing with the struggles of being a mother, having a career, relationship and/or juggling the various difficulties that come with these roles. I treat a lot of pregnant women or those dealing with post-partum depression or anxiety, as well as women with fertility issues. I've also worked extensively with young adults as they make their way into college or a career and the difficulties that can come with that.

As we begin counseling, I like to find out more about you, your needs, strengths and areas where you feel you need the most support. We will work together to come up with goals for you, as therapy is a collaborative experience. I have a compassionate and understanding ear, as well as the knowledge and resources to get you where you want to be.

I believe in treating the whole person. If you are having difficulty with your personal life it may spill over to your professional life. I'll help you connect the dots so that EVERY area of your life feels more fulfilling. You are not alone, and there is help for you here.

I feel Jennifer really listened to my survey I filled out in the beginning and continues to know what will best help me. I feel like I will show much success with her helping me.

Jennifer Yates (MC, LMFT) is very supportive, kind and helpful! She offers brilliant advice. I was particularly impressed with how she understood me and what I was struggling with from the start, just from the bits I’d filled in and ideas I’d put. She had read between the lines and got to the crux of the issues quickly. She is caring and gets back to you quickly even if it is just to say that she is in a meeting or training so can’t give it her attention until later which I find very helpful as I always know where I stand! I’m very ill so go through periods of time where I can’t manage anything not even this and she kept sending me little messages just to say hi and check I was okay which I found really comforting! She also sends articles when she comes across one which might be helpful to me which shows that she is always thinking about her patients and what kind of a counsellor and person she is!! I am very grateful for her help, guidance and support! Thank you so much Jennifer!

I just completed my last session with Jennifer Yates and I must say she was incredible in this kind of setting. She is readily available and very knowledgeable in her profession. She is detailed in her advice and spent time getting to know me and showing concern and care for my issues of anxiety. I would 100% recommend her services. It was such a wonderful feeling to get that email alerting me that I had received a reply from Jennifer. I looked forward to her input to my situation and I thank her for what she has added to my life.
