Welcome! My name is Jessica Allen and I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in the state of Illinois. My 5+ years of previous social work and counseling experience included foster care casework, intensive placement stabilization and crisis intervention for teenagers experiencing family conflict, child welfare counseling for children and adults, domestic violence counseling, hospital-based medical social work, and case management for previously homeless individuals with chronic and persistent mental illness. I received a specialization in Military Social Work during my master’s program and have a passion for working with those who have experienced trauma.
I believe that overall wellness includes not only fitness and nutrition but good mental health as well. Anxiety and depression are on the rise, but with a strong toolbox (stress management tools, problem-solving skills, self-care, etc.), anyone can face life transitions with confidence! In counseling, I use a combination of CBT and problem-solving therapy, narrative therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and DBT when appropriate. I believe individualized plans, based on your needs and goals, are most effective and will work to develop a plan that works for you. It takes strength and courage to seek counseling. I look forward to working with you!
