About me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of New Mexico. I've been a practicing therapist for over ten years and I have extensive experience addressing issues of depression, anxiety, life stages, self-esteem, and relationships.

My approach is very down to earth and realistic while remaining strengths-based and supportive. I utilize a person-centered approach with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Systems theory as the backbone of my approach. This means that my focus is driven by the individual and their identified needs so that I can identify maladaptive or negative thinking patterns, how those thought patterns influence action, and how that is all impacted by the various systems in their lives (family, work, friends, etc.). However, I also recognize that each person has individual needs and one approach does not fit all. Therefore, I tailor my approach to meet the needs of the person that I am working with and the issues that they want to address.

A little information about me: I am originally from Vermont and relocated the New Mexico in my mid 20's when I decided I wanted to experience different cultures and environment. New Mexico is vastly different than Vermont. I suppose you could say I feel in love with the desert because I have stayed here. I believe that being raised in Vermont, but spending much of my adult life in New Mexico, has brought me the perfect balance of urgent verses mañana to bring me balance and an appreciation for true urgency and the value of slowing down. I have also needed to have this balance as I raise my two daughters along with my husband.

I recognize how difficult it can be to seek support and help in working through the complexities of life and the impact that our life experiences have on us. I want to thank you in advance for taking the first step towards helping yourself by even looking into therapy. I know it can be scary or overwhelming, but please know, you are not in this alone. I am here to help you walk through your challenges and towards a healthier you.

I have had a great experience with Jessica and BetterHelp. Jessica is wonderful at listening and giving advice. It’s so helpful to have this service as we live in a rural area. Excellent service.

Jessica is very thoughtful and has helped improve my perspective on many things. Even family and friends are noticing that I’ve become calmer and less likely to snap at others since starting to talk to Jessica on a weekly basis.

I really enjoy my counselor she listens and offers me very good advice. And it’s not just the how does that make you feel we set goals and has taught me to understand that it’s ok if nothing goes perfectly the first time. I’ve also learned patience because things like this are a slow process. She is the best therapist I’ve had in along time. Plus I really like that we can talk when ever I’m able to it’s not a set thing it’s very much on my own terms and I really like that.

Jessica is really sweet and helpful. She is a great listener and she asks the right questions. I really had the feeling she has a lot of expertise. She gives you solutions but at the same time you don't feel any pressure so she really takes care of you. I am really happy that she is my counselor.
I was a bit concerned at the beginning that I would have difficulties because english is not my mothertongue but at the end everything went smoothly.

Jessica really helped me figure out my grief while I was waiting for local bereavement counseling. I'm slowly coming out the other end and making some positive changes to improve my ability to carry on. I don't know what I would have done without her to talk to.
