Dr. Jessica Goodman

(MA, PhD)

About Me

Hello, I am a Psychologist licensed in Florida and Pennsylvania with over 12 years experience. I have worked in a variety of settings, including college counseling centers, a VA medical center, private practice, and a substance use treatment program.

I attended the University of Miami for my Bachelor's degree and then went to Miami University in Ohio for my Master's and PhD. My research focused on singlehood, relationships, and life satisfaction. Following graduate school I worked in substance abuse treatment programs, then joined a private practice and went to work for a VA medical center. I have found these experiences meaningful as I both help others make changes in their lives and also learn from them.

I work from a place of empathy, compassion and respect. I believe that we live and work within systems, or groups, such as culture, family, community, religion, work, etc. We learn from those systems how we are "supposed to be" and sometimes that does not align with how we feel we are or want to be. I work to help people live more authentic and meaningful lives, without necessarily leaving those systems that also provide us with roots and support. This often means recognizing and altering thought patterns, behaviors, communication patterns, and sometimes working to change the systems themselves. I look forward to partnering with you on your journey.

She's excellent. Very helpful. Easy to talk to. Offers multiple avenues of help, self improvement, and mindfulness. I couldn't be happier with her support.

I've only been working with Dr Goodman for two weeks now but I feel very comfortable with her. She is a very good listener, empathetic, and helps me see things in a more positive light.
