About me
Hello and welcome to BetterHelp! I am a clinical social worker licensed in both North Dakota and Minnesota. I have worked in the mental health profession providing counseling for over 18 years, 5 of those years as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Psychology, from the University of North Dakota in 1997. I earned my Master of Social Work degree from the College of St. Catherine/University of St. Thomas in 2003. I have lived and worked in both small town/rural areas, as well as in urban areas including Minneapolis/St. Paul and Phoenix, AZ. I have provided therapy in numerous settings including schools, day-treatment programs, in-home, virtually, and in an outpatient behavioral health clinic. I have experience helping people with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, abuse/trauma, adjustment to life changes, relationship issues, LGBTQ+ issues, school/career challenges, family problems, and intrapersonal problems.
It is my priority to provide a safe, inclusive, non-judgmental space for my clients. My therapy style is warm and relational. I treat my clients with respect and compassion. My approach is strength-based and person-centered, which means I meet you where you are and help you recognize and build on the positive qualities you already posses. I combine cognitive-behavioral therapy, solution-focused techniques, and mindfulness practices to help my clients learn how to help themselves.
I recognize that it takes courage and strength to ask for help. Your decision to seek therapy for yourself is evidence that you possess these qualities and have the ability to make changes that will lead you to a happier, healthier life. I would be honored to work with you on your journey!

Reviews
These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Jessica Hartman. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
Jessica is great to work with. She listens to understand and guides me on the path to self improvement.
She is absolutely amazing and so insightful. I’m a matter of two weeks, she has been the light of hopefulness that I needed to work on my self development and my mental health. Thank you so much Jessica
Jessica has helped me for a long time. She is an excellent listener, provides good feedback and has helped me learn many coping skills.
I’m so grateful to have such a wonderful therapist.
Jessica is amazing. I was able to overcome a lot over my time with her. She is great about making me see the real reason behind what I am feeling, but also letting me accept that there isn't always a reason. She truly is wonderful at what she does.
Better help has helped me get through the struggles I face every day
Jessica is the best! I always feel heard and am extremely happy with her as my counselor. 10/10 would recommend.
Jessica has been so amazing through starting my therapy process! highly reccomend her!
Jessica is my first therapist I've met with both on BetterHelp and anywhere, and I wasn't too sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised! Jessica is very patient and good at listening, and tries to work with your needs the best she can. Would highly recommend her!
Dr. Hartman is wonderful! She really takes the time to understand what you’re going through and your goals.
Jessica is an amazing counselor! She is very understanding and caring, an excellent listener, and also very professional at all times. I felt comfortable speaking to Jessica from our first video session. She took time to listen to me and to hear my story and let me explain how I was feeling. Throughout our following sessions she always checked in on me and helped me discuss my feelings as well as gave me excellent guidance that helped me manage things outside of our sessions. I can truly say my meetings with Jessica have had a positive impact on my life and have helped me make changes for the better. I highly recommend Jessica to anyone in need of counseling!
