I am a licensed professional clinical counselor and licensed alcohol and drug counselor licensed by the State of Minnesota. I studied at the University of Minnesota and have been working with clients for close to 10 years. My work has taken me to Hong Kong and back to my home in Minneapolis; I love working with people and am inspired daily by those who are committed to doing the work it takes to live a life not free of hardships, but a life in which the hardships do not define one's life.
Feminist theory and relational-cultural theory (RCT) are the anchors in the framework of my counseling theory and direct my professional and personal life. Through these theories, connection and empowerment are able to thrive and start the motion of change. My belief is humans are ultimately seeking connections, of which then nurture and cultivate change. To be self-actualized does not mean to be in complete harmony with the path one is on or to not have questions or difficulties. When a human is self-actualized, they are connected to others in empathic, supportive, empowering relationships that foster learning and support. Some modalities that I use with clients are DBT, CBT, and Narrative Therapy techniques. I am person-centered, which means that I will honor your story and treat you with nothing less than absolute respect. I have worked with individuals, couples, adolescents, and families on issues ranging from addiction (both substance and activity), eating disorders, ranges of mental health disorders, relationship concerns and a myriad of other issues that are impeding the client from connecting to hope and happiness. I am strength-based and client-centered; I believe that ultimate courage is about being vulnerable and asking for help. I love music and believe that it has the power to transform lives and I can spend a whole day completely lost in a great book. Spending time with friends and family, and my dogs, is something that I love as much as I do spending a day with just myself. I am socially conscious and believe that difficult conversations are necessary for change. I also know that laughter, at times, really is the best medicine.
I know that no one lives a life without hardships and pain and I sincerely look forward to working with you and empowering you to live your life in the best way possible!

Jessica helps me feel balanced and empowered! I'm so happy we were matched together! I'd recommend her and this program to anyone. I love everything about it.
Jessica is one of the few counselors I've worked with and felt and felt a real connection to. There were moments I was frustrated. Just when I would think I'd be onto something she would steer it a different direction. However, because of that I learned quite a bit about myself. I still have work to do, but feel confident I will someday get there and if needed could reach out to her again.
I have had the pleasure of working with Jessica for a number of months now. Insightful and compassionate, Ms. McBride manages to amaze me with her ability to keep me on track and focused on what is important and away from what isn't.
I have yet to find anyone who can understand where I am coming from on many of my issues. Though her and I do have different political/philosophical beliefs, Jessica never lets those get in the way of our discussion and my treatment.
I am glad to have Jessica as my therapist, and even, dare I say, as a friend.
She is very compassionate and helpful!
I have grown so much since working with Jess. I signed up with BetterHelp in the throes of a horrible bout of anxiety and depression. I was sitting in bed, feeling panicked that I was not going to gain control. I had very little money and near by therapy was expensive. I am so glad I looked into BetterHelp. Jess’s first response to me was perfect and helped me get perspective. For the first time, I felt like I was ok. I could be ok. And since then, I have been able to explore the real reasons behind my feelings. And her confidence helps me to believe in the process and grow into the feelings instead of trying to bury them.
Jessica is an amazing therapist. She is extremely encouraging and has made me feel more positive about all aspects of my life. I can’t recommend her highly enough.
Jessica is knowledgeable and professional and she has helped me through a very difficult part of my life.
So far Jessica has been very kind and supportive.
Jessica McBride has been extremely helpful in helping me understand myself. She is very nice and understanding, and her experience and knowledge is evident with each conversation we have. I am very thankful for the insight she has, and the introspection she has helped me achieve. I would recommend her to any and all looking for a counselor/therapist.
Jessica has been amazing! She reminds me if the importance of the language I use towards myself. She is empowering and endearing and I feel like she sees me for who I am.
I really appreciate Jessica's support and knowledge. She keeps in touch which makes a bug difference!
I am very impressed with the quality of therapy provided by Jessica Mc Bride in an online format. She is very supportive and end encouraged me to look at my situation from a healthier perspective. I was also able to have a telephone session with her, which I found to be very helpful. I recommend her to anyone who wants to give online therapy a try.
