About me

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, licensed in Tennessee, Oklahoma, and Ohio, with over 19 years of experience working within the counseling field. I have experience and training focused on the treatment of a variety of mental health concerns. I have extensive experience working with individuals who have experienced trauma and multiple forms of abuse. I have worked with a wide variety of young adults who have experienced multiple types of difficulties such as anxiety, depression, school/employment related issues, and relational issues. I also have experience working with families targeting parenting concerns and relational issues.

My counseling style is client centered and I approach the therapeutic relationship with an empathetic and collaborative stance. My approach is a combination of maintaining a solution focused mindset and utilizing cognitive behavioral techniques to assist individuals with making progress toward their goals. Therapy is a partnership. I am here to help you with whatever concerns you have. If I see possibilities for other things that could be getting in the way of your goals I will bring them up, but ultimately it will be for you to decide if it is something you want to work through. If you want my opinion or advice, I will give it to you. Within the therapeutic relationship, I will treat you with respect, compassion, and carry an open mindset to focus on your goals as we work together. Our therapeutic focus will be on collaboratively finding solutions to the problems you are facing during this chapter of your life and helping you reach toward your goals. I may invite you to look at a situation from a different perspective, challenge you to approach a problem in a new way, or suggest follow up assignments for you to do after our sessions. I believe that success comes from learning how to do something differently than what has been done before.

Reaching out for support is an important part of anyone's journey and it is a sign of strength that you have reached out for support at this time. Everyone experiences problems in their lives and at times it can be helpful for someone else to support you in finding solutions to those problems. If you want help to face things you have been avoiding, find new ways to tackle old problems, are tired of dealing with the same old problems and want a different life for yourself, I can help you. Often the most difficult thing about therapy is just making the decision to get started in the first place. Congratulations for taking this step! I look forward to hearing from you.

Jessica has been such a great help - even from our first session I felt heard and understood more than other therapists I’ve spoken with. In the biggest way, I felt understood because she listened instead of assuming. She is very helpful to me in dealing with my anxiety and tackling my personal goals surrounding boundaries and my responsibilities to others. I would recommend her to anyone!
