About me

Welcome! Congratulations on taking this next step in your journey to becoming the best version of yourself. Starting therapy, whether you have never been in counseling before or are trying a new way to connect with a counselor, can be scary, and I hope learning more about me and how I approach counseling helps you feel more comfortable.

I am a 2008 graduate of the University of Maryland School of Social Work and I have been practicing clinical social work as a therapist in private practice for the past ten years. I have worked with people of all ages, experiencing a wide range of conditions, including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and difficulty adjusting to life changes. I approach therapy from a holistic perspective, incorporating a number of theoretical perspectives, based on your needs. I draw from cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness, and other approaches.

Therapy is a collaborative process, starting with where you are, identifying your strengths and needs, and working together to set goals to help you get to where you want to be. I am non-judgmental, open, and committed to the core social work values: service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, the importance of human relationships, integrity and competence. I hope that you will feel comfortable sharing your story with me, and that the therapeutic relationship we will build will help you feel welcomed, safe and understood.

*If you would like to work with me, please note that my availability for live sessions for new clients is currently limited to what is shown on my schedule.* If this does not match with your availability, please consider selecting a different counselor, as my availability is not likely to change in the near future. I wish you the best on your journey, and hope we have the opportunity to work together.

Reviews

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Jessica Orndoff. We don't pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.

Orndoff is an excellent therapist -- I appreciate especially how she has different methodologies she uses that she can adapt to the situation at hand. I get a limited number of sessions through my EAP and I really appreciate how Orndoff respects that and helps us use our time in the most effective manner possible, giving me "homework" to help me get the most out of short-term therapy. If I were going to pursue long-term therapy, I couldn't ask for a better therapist than Orndoff who perfectly blends compassionate listening with practical advice.

I am so grateful to have been matched to Jessica as my BetterHelp therapist. Jessica has been helpful in my healing journey, always listening, validating, and helping me connect the dots and understand behavior patterns and the roots of my self-beliefs. Jessica was easy to talk to and share with, and I never felt judged by her. I always looked forward to our sessions. While my healing journey continues, I wouldn't be where I am today had it not been for Jessica's support. Thank you.

I have always been skeptical of therapy, mostly due to a traumatic experience with a child therapist years prior but something told me I was ready. I was lucky enough to be matched with Jessica. She is kind, funny and attentive. She offers multiple practices and steps that help you reach your goals. She will offer you pragmatic and realistic advice but she will also let you vent about nonsense. BetterHelp, and especially Jessica have been a blessing in my life. I can say with certainty I am a stronger and more grounded person because of my experiences with this service.

Jessica is extremely helpful in bringing me new perspective as well as validating the concerns I have about myself and the world around me. I have never felt judged by her, only supported. She has been so wonderful in giving me the resources I need to understand why I’m in therapy, and how I can move forward with working on myself!

I have been working with Jessica for about 3 months now and it's been a wonderful experience. Jessica is very patient and a great listener. She is also very encouraging and able to help me tackle my issues without rushing me or making me uncomfortable. Within 3 months I've already shown plenty of growth and I'm feeling more confident as a whole.
