Starting therapy, whether you have never been in counseling before or are trying a new way to connect with a counselor, can be scary, and I hope learning more about me and how I approach counseling helps you feel more comfortable.
I am a 2008 graduate of the University of Maryland School of Social Work and I have been practicing clinical social work as a therapist in private practice for the past ten years. I have worked with people of all ages, experiencing a wide range of conditions, including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, and difficulty adjusting to life changes. I approach therapy from a holistic perspective, incorporating a number of theoretical perspectives, based on your needs. I draw from cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness, and other approaches.
Therapy is a collaborative process, starting with where you are, identifying your strengths and needs, and working together to set goals to help you get to where you want to be. I am non-judgmental, open, and committed to the core social work values: service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, the importance of human relationships, integrity and competence. I hope that you will feel comfortable sharing your story with me, and that the therapeutic relationship we will build will help you feel welcomed, safe and understood.

I have always been skeptical of therapy, mostly due to a traumatic experience with a child therapist years prior but something told me I was ready. I was lucky enough to be matched with Jessica. She is kind, funny and attentive. She offers multiple practices and steps that help you reach your goals.
