About Me

Hello! My name is Jessica Pakatar and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in New York. I have been practicing in the clinical social work field for 10 years primarily in an outpatient setting. I earned my degree from the State University College at Albany with a Master in Social Work in 2009. My experience includes working with individuals that suffer from anxiety, depression, relationship issues, mood disorders, substance abuse disorders and other addictions. My approach to therapy is client centered. You are the expert on your own life and I am here to guide you toward your identified goals. We start where you are. I use multiple treatment modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing techniques, Strength Based approaches, Solution Focused techniques, and mindfulness practices to support you in meeting your therapeutic goals.

Jessica Pakatar has been a wonderful resource for me over the past two months. This was my first therapy experience and I really just needed someone to talk to as I was going through major life changes. She is incredibly supportive and challenged me to think about things in a way I have not before. Jessica is amazing. I was ready to give up on counseling before talking to her. With her tips I've been able to sleep better and am starting to learn how to manage my anxiety even throughout the day really without anyone noticing. She checks in with me regularly which is really helpful because I can be kind of forgetful.
