About me

When individuals experience trauma or severe life stressors, it is not uncommon for them to begin to feel overwhelmed and for everyday activities to become much harder to accomplish. This may be the first step you've taken towards healing, and I believe it is admirable that you have decided to take time to work on yourself and your relationships. I am dedicated to helping any individual, including children, adults and families, to find healthy perceptions of themselves and strengthen their relationships so they can know themselves as peaceful, complete, whole and safe.

For the past 8 years I have held an LMHC in both NY and FL. My educational background includes a B.S. in Psychology, M.A. in Mental Health Counseling, and I am a current PhD candidate in Psychology with a focus on trauma. I am a professional member of the American Psychological Association and a certified member of the National Board of Mental Health Counselors. I continue to educate myself by attending national and local conferences, and keeping up with current therapy research. I know that no single approach is the right one for every individual, and so I have been trained in a range of theoretical techniques including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectal Behavior Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Eye Movement Reprocessing Desensitization (EMDR). My approach is integrative in order to address your specific concerns in a way that is most effective for you.

My role will be to guide and support you in improving the skills and confidence that are needed for you to live your best life. I feel that helping you learn new healthy and adaptive ways of coping and healing, as well as exploring the underlying causes of your current symptoms is the recipe necessary to create lasting change. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out. I look forward to working together.

As someone who doesn’t really want to be in therapy she doesn’t push me or make me feel too uncomfortable, yet I still feel like she always keeps conversation going. I enjoy when I get off the phone with new insights or more confidence in the direction I’m going or not going. She’s very personable and would recommend to most people, I see her as a huge help.

I came into counseling somewhat wary and skeptical of what it could really achieve for me, but after my first session with Jillian all my doubts were wiped away. She helped me get through one of the most difficult, stressful times of my life, and helped me realize things about myself I never would have seen on my own. I have come out of my time with Jillian much more self aware, much better able to cope, and feeling mentally and emotionally refreshed across the board. She recalls things that even I managed to forget that I said weeks after the fact; she made me feel heard and understood no matter how seemingly small the detail. Never once did it seem as if she was asking "generic" questions of "reading from a script." Every moment felt productive, even when I went into a session thinking I had nothing to talk about. Can not recommend her enough, she has very much changed my life for the better.
