About me

Greetings!

Thank you for the interest in my bio! My name is Jillian Tyson and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in the state of California. I started off at Simpson University where I obtained my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology. I continued my education at National University where I earned a Master’s in Counseling. I have over six years of experience working within the mental health industry serving people from all walks of life.

In the past, I have worked in the school system, private practice, with local county agencies to help foster youth, adolescents, adults, and families. I also have experience working in a health center, where our mission is “serving the underserved.” I provide both behavioral and mental health support for a variety of concerns and mental health issues, but a few examples are depression, anxiety, mood concerns, trauma/abuse, ADHD, Autism, relationship issues, grief/loss, parenting concerns and life changes. I am passionate about working with blended families and supporting the family with setting healthy boundaries while navigating through the challenges of co-parenting.

I love people of all ages and backgrounds and feel that I have a calling to help anyone work through difficult times and situations. Showing compassion, acceptance and understanding are only a few of my qualities. I am easy to talk with and aim to create a safe and non-judgmental environment for you. I’m fluent in the phrase “tell me the raw and real!” As a mother of all boys (4), trust me, I’ve heard it all and nothing shocks me!

My counseling approach ranges from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Solution Focused, Motivational Interviewing, Psychodynamic, and Client-Centered. However, I focus on the client and tailor what is necessary to help you accomplish your goals in therapy.

With my educational experience and my own personal life experiences, I truly believe I can help children, adults, and families overcome their current obstacles. This is a journey that I am committed to take with you as you seek to live a healthier, happier, and more meaningful life.

I look forward to working with you!
