I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Louisiana. My license has been in effect since 2019, and 2020 taught all of us that the utility of technology is necessary and we are grateful for it. My academic history is broad. I began my academic career in 2000 and had flunked out by 2001. When I came back to school, I was humbled and ready to work. While my initial pursuits were an interest in law school (Political Science & English), my career changed when I completed my English MA and began teaching at McNeese State University. It was during that time teaching that I also helped a local pastor open a private school for children in his congregation. Working as founder and Principal of Eastwood Christian Academy helped me understand the broad needs of individuals and families within my community, and I was motivated to learn more. I promptly went back to school to become a therapist, and I have since earned a doctorate in Education from Vanderbilt University.
My approach to therapy is client-centered in a broad sense with a particular focus from the ideas of Motivational Interviewing, "Is what you are doing getting you what you want?" It is on this idea that I attempt to practice, and I aim to support, encourage, and teach the necessary skills for clients to obtain what they want out of life. I am trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (A.C.T.), Behavioral Couples Therapy (BCT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy. Our stories are our truth, the most authentic version of ourselves is found in the truth of our life experiences, and my hope is to be a support to anyone and everyone who would choose to entrust me with the story of their life.

From the very first conversation I had with Dr. Trahan, I knew that I'm speaking to someone real, informed. and capable. I cannot recommend him enough for anyone who's interested in rolling up their sleeves and working through whatever they have to work through.
Dr. Trahan is helpful in therapy by understanding your needs and providing actionable thought processes to overcome challenges. He also brings in scientific evidence (bio, psychological) which I find helpful in explaining things. Overall very helpful, good at communication, and supportive! I’d highly recommend him.
I believe Dr. Trahan in very few days appeared to be very capable and knows what he is talking about. Because in my opinion he knows what I need very well and delivers that in a way that facilitates change very easily, and he is very supportive.
So helpful, and extremely understanding. Easy to talk to which makes all my problems just flow out of my mouth so he can give accurate care and councilling
Supportive, Encouraging and Understands
Dr. Trahan has been instrumental in my initial counseling, has listened to my concerns, and provided a wide range of recommended techniques to further develop a recovery plan. Though I am now seeking additional help in the form of 12 step programs and health care provided psychiatry, I will continue to check in with Dr. Trahan on my progress, as well as take in additional advice.
So far we are communicating well.
It's still early days but Dr. Trahan has checked in with me after a few days of silence. This is important to me because I like the way he is looking for forward momentum
