I’m an LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) in Arizona and Texas with over fifteen years of clinical experience. I began my counseling career working with abused and neglected teens in a non-profit residential treatment center in Austin, Texas. This initiation into acute trauma therapy paved the way for my continued development as a clinician and began my journey into mindfulness, both for myself and for my clients.
Working in constant high intensity, crisis situations took its toll on my nervous system as I wrestled with my own anxiety and eventually full- blown panic. Mindfulness was my way out. Not only did it alleviate my anxiety symptoms, but it had a transformative effect on my life from the inside out. It revolutionized my relationships with others and especially with myself through self-compassion.
My personal experience with mindfulness led me to establish the Austin Mindfulness Center in 2011, where I trained a clinical team of mindfulness-based therapists and offered professional counseling as well as an array of educational opportunities such as workshops, classes, and online trainings to the community to learn and practice mindfulness.
I use ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), an empirically supported mindfulness-based behavioral therapy, to help clients live more courageously and in alignment with their values. I believe that we are all capable of being healthy and happy, despite our ailments and perceived barriers. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship problems, or going through a difficult life transition, I am here to guide you toward living more skillfully and gaining mastery of your life. I am also a certified Positive Discipline parent educator and love working with parents to develop the internal fortitude, strategies and skills for being the most important people in their children's lives.
I believe it is the wisest who seek wisdom, and that is exactly how I see you. By committing to your mental and emotional wellbeing, you are empowered to create change. My clients are truly my greatest inspiration. I welcome people of all sexual orientations, relationship lifestyles, political beliefs, cultures and nationalities.

He is awesome and quick to reply! Highly recommend
A really cool guy that is pretty good at what he does. I never considered some problems that he easily identified. It was like that one show where they ask a guy for advice and he just spits facts in front of an audience.
I was experiencing extreme anxiety when traveling. Mr. Carrasco asked me about my history, what I was feeling and educated me on what was happening and provided me with strategies to help overcome my anxiety. I am very happy with my counseling sessions.
In just a few messages back and he forth he has helped me open my eyes. What I thought were my intentions and issues are truly deeper.
Jiovann does not waste any time getting to the root of the problem at hand. He offers direct answers and asks the difficult questions that make you think. He also provides helpful resources for "homework" between sessions. I already feel he has helped me out a lot!
