About me

Hello! I'm Jo Lonna Foy, but go by Jo and use She/Her pronouns. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Utah with 9 years of professional work experience. I have experience in helping clients with stress and anxiety, relationship issues, trauma and abuse, & coping with grief and loss. Trauma treatment with CPT and/or EMDR is my passion as I love assisting clients in regaining their self-confidence, strength, and personal power from traumatic events to then move toward their life goals.

My therapy style is open, warm, and non-judgmental with an emphasis on bringing out the authenticity and confidence in each client I work with. I can pull from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy based on the needs of the client. I am trained in EMDR and Cognitive Processing Therapy for addressing trauma treatment needs. I truly enjoy working with the LGBTQ+ community and am a member of the LGBTQ Affirmative Therapy Guild of Utah. With a Postgraduate Diploma in Sexology from Curtin University in Perth, Australia, I easily engage with clients who may struggle with intimacy, desire, pain, or ability issues within sexuality.

I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. I will tailor our dialogue and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs. It takes courage to seek out a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards a change. I am here to support & empower you in your journey!

Written on Apr 08, 2023 after therapy with Jo Lonna (Jo) for 2 weeks on issues concerning depression, stress, anxiety, addictions, lgbt, relationship issues, trauma and abuse, grief, intimacy-related issues, eating disorders, parenting issues, self esteem, anger management, bipolar disorder, coping with life changes, and compassion fatigue

Jo has been everything I had wished for and more. I have had prior therapy experiences but this is the first time I've truly had someone understand me and my situation. Jo has gone above and beyond in making sure I get the help I need. When I first started better help I wasn't quite sure if it would work for me. Jo and her inviting attitude really showed me that this would be a safe and inviting environment.

Jo Lonna is one of the best therapists I've had so far. I can strongly recommend her.

Jo has been great! She’s really good at asking questions about the issues I bring up so she fully understands where I am coming from. She is also very focused on helping me achieve my goals for therapy.
