I am a mental health therapist currently holding an LPC and LSW in the state of Pennsylvania with over 30 years of experience working in various inpatient and outpatient settings. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, PTSD, childhood trauma, career challenges, substance abuse issues, and grief and loss. I also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse.
My therapy style is warm and interactive. I believe in treating anyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I don't believe in stigmatizing labels. My approach combines cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, psychodynamic and rational-emotive therapy. I will tailor our dialog and treatment plan to meet your unique and specific needs.
I believe that it takes courage to seek help and then take the first tentative steps towards change. If you are ready to tell your story, I am here to listen and support you in your journey towards a new life. To prospective clients, In the spirit of mutual respect I ask you to take a moment before you decide to change therapists without any notice and provide me with some feedback. I understand that the online platform is anonymous and that it seems quite different than face to face counseling. However, you need to consider that just as in real face to face human interaction a certain degree of kindness and thoughtful manners goes very far in a rather cold and callous world. Just as you come to me for understanding, guidance and an ear to listen you need to give the same if there is something that concerns you about my counseling style. In this manner we can both grow as individuals and I can learn from you as you from me.
I look forward to working with you!

I have been with Dr. Crants for a couple months now. We have weekly sessions. I sincerely anticipate them! I have been through therapy on an off throughout my life and never truly found it beneficial until now. One part due to not being ready, the second part being that I didn’t have Joann as my person! She is so genuine, and real, her understanding of how I feel is like she sees right through my soul. She makes me feel understood. I cannot express enough to my coworkers, family, etc. that every time we complete a session, I feel weight off my chest. She is truly amazing! I sincerely appreciate her. She is super witty, and absolutely HILARIOUS! She can make you crack up at the end of the session when you cried the whole entire time.
I cannot stress enough how thankful I truly am for her! Thank you Dr. Crants!!!

I think Joann believes in what she’s doing, for legal advice that’s irrelevant, but for this it’s crucial. I was a bit wary of the motivations for the professionals on this site but Joann is sincere and has an aura of the wisdom of a lengthy history. maybe the best review is that I’m writing a review.

She's very personable and funny! Her jokes make me feel comfortable and relaxed to share with her things I don't like telling people at all. She's very supportive and her advice is not biased. She challenges me and offers worksheets to help me read about things that can also assist outside of our sessions.
