Hello! I am a licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience working as a psychologist. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns and ages. The areas I have the most experience working with have identified as having anxiety (including OCD), depression (including bipolar disorder and PTSD), relationship issues, personality disorders, problems related to motivation and self worth, and LGBT issues. This is not a complete list, as I have worked with people grappling with many other concerns.
I am nonjudgmental and compassionate. I believe humor in therapy can be very useful when appropriate. I am a peer-reviewed Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) supervisor. What that means for you is that I have a very distinct style of therapy I use, and I am an expert in ACT. It's a unique form of therapy which is aimed at moving you toward a life of purpose and vitality; no matter what you are currently struggling with. We will work together to determine the best goals and pace for you to achieve that end.
I honor you for taking this courageous first step; I know it can be a scary one that feels like a giant leap. Here you are... congratulations! I hope to have the opportunity to work with you.

Dr. Wright was professional, reassuring but most importantly warm and friendly. She really made an effort to connect with me and it was so easy to talk to her, even about some issues that I have been unable to share with anyone else. I highly recommend!
Dr. Wright has been amazing at listening and understanding the issues. She was easy to speak to and would definitely recommend her.
Joann is an amazing person with a lot of expertise
Dr Wright balances her empathy with encouragement and motivation. She makes me feel heard and understood yet I can tell she wants me to work through the therapy program and not become reliant on it.
Dr. Wright has a wonderful nature about her that makes you feel at ease and not judged. She grounds you with specific goals, work, and focus on a topic but also allows the sessions to go freely. I always gets a response when I write to her which is reassuring.
