About me

You are reading this because something in your life feels overwhelming, and you are wondering if therapy can help. It absolutely can and does help. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) located in the state of Florida. I have been working as a mental health therapist since 1992 with clients on a wide range of issues including trauma, anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, parenting issues, societal oppression due to sexual orientation, gender identity, or race, neuro-divergences, conflict resolution, and major life changes to name a few. I use eclectic therapeutic techniques including: Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused, mindfulness, and Systems theory techniques in my work as a therapist. I love to explore alternative ways to increase peace. Therapy requires trust. It requires work. It is worth it. I am warm, compassionate, and client centered in my approach and am led by your needs utilizing therapeutic techniques to help you to create positive change in your life. On a personal note, I am a woman of color, a mother to two adult children, a dog owner, and a passionate ally to the LGBTQ+ communities; all social justice and marginalized communities are important to me in my personal and professional life.

Seeking help through therapy is brave. Life can be challenging, complicated, and overwhelming. We all need help finding our way to the best journey in our lives. I would be honored to walk a part of your journey with you. You have already done some important personal work in deciding to see a therapist to create positive change. I will work with you on prioritizing the changes that you would like to create and we will work toward attaining sustainable goals that you can accomplish. Our sessions together will be work, but you will leave them feeling lighter and accomplished toward positive changes in your life.

I look forward to working with you and helping you to live your best life.
Warm Regards,
Joanne

I am so happy that I chose Joanne as a therapist. She is always on time and makes the session very productive. She is genuine and I feel we have a connection that allows me to be open with how I feel and this has helped me tremendously. I feel we have made some great progress this week, but I must continue to work on myself with her help!
