About me

I am a clinical psychologist with more than 10 years of experience helping people become their best selves. So often in life we face stressful and overwhelming situations. We might feel disempowered, drained, and at times, even hopeless. Does life feel like a struggle? Are you searching to find your path? Maybe fear is preventing you from making choices that are in your best interests? You do not have to solve these problems on your own. Therapy can provide you with the tools and the support to help you transform your life. Change can be challenging but by no means is it impossible.

Seeking help is difficult enough, and it's my job to make the process easier. My style is warm, empathic, and optimistic. I'm also a firm believer that a sense of humor can be tremendously helpful. Although I take my work and my clients seriously, I never take myself too seriously. If you are struggling with a particular issue, or simply looking for a safe place to express yourself, I'm excited to begin the process with you. I utilize a client-centered approach (meaning that YOU are the expert on you) that will allow you to identify your own strengths and resources. I work with my clients to find the treatments that fit them the best, with significant experience using cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based therapeutic approaches.

I earned my M.S. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Oregon, and spent a year completing a post-doctoral fellowship at the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center. I am currently licensed in Oklahoma. My areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, insomnia, chronic pain and health issues, and adjusting to many of the challenges life throws our way. I have specialized training and experience treating anxiety disorders (OCD, panic disorder, specific phobia, generalized anxiety disorder) and insomnia, and tobacco cessation. In addition, I enjoy working with couples using Integrative Couples Behavior Therapy. I also have several years experience working with parents to improve family life and manage difficult child behaviors.

It takes courage to seek a more fulfilling and happier life and to take the first steps towards change. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and empower you.

I look forward to working with you!

Dr. Barton is very knowledgeable in her area of practice/expertise. She consistently supports me and challenges me to be better (or be better to myself). I would recommend her for anybody experiencing issues with anxiety, depression, career, and family as I have.

I would also recommend any counselors or therapists in training to work with Dr. Barton as she balances the professional/personal aspects of this relationship well, taking an unassuming and supportive approach while working with me as I undergo my own professional development.
