About me

Hello, my name is John Anderson and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist. With my license, I am also able to counsel individuals. I received my masters of arts degree in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University in 2010. I have experience with counseling adults with anxiety, addiction, depression and other mental health issues. I have worked with clients that have been mandated by DCFS for individual therapy. I also consistently take trainings so I can stay abreast on new developments in my field.

I want to tell you a little bit more about myself and how I conduct my therapy sessions. First, I work with clients in a collaborative way. Your input in the treatment plan is essential in the success of treatment. It is important that, as a client, your perspective is considered and your needs are met within the therapeutic process. For the first two or three sessions, I will focus on getting to know you as a person, hearing your story and building a rapport between us as therapist and client. After the first initial sessions, we would work on creating a treatment plan together that would be conducive to your treatment needs. The psychology theories that I use primarily are client-centered therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and solution-focused therapy. I also take interventions from other therapeutic modalities that would be the most effective for your unique treatment. I feel confident that we will be able to come up with a treatment plan that will be tailored to your specific goals. I look forward to working with you and let’s start this journey together!
