About me

My name is John Rawe but I go by nick name Jack. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Louisiana and have been licensed in North Carolina and Texas. I have had experience in outpatient community clinics for over 13 years. I currently work with adults. I have worked with people who have experienced trauma, depression, bipolar, anxiety, esteem issues as well as substance abuse issues. My counseling approach tends to be Adlerian or what is called individual psychology as it relates to the whole person spirit, soul and body.” I am currently pursuing training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which has been successful in treating trauma as well as other issues. I also use Motivational Interviewing, which looks at what motivates the person and working through stages of change and tend to be cognitive behavioral in my approach as well, which looks at what the person thinks and behaves while challenging their "stinking thinking." This goes with the saying "people do what they do because they believe what they believe." When we change our beliefs, we can change our lives." I also am available for Christian counseling and am open to integrating the Bible in the sessions if that is what the person wants.
