I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor and have been practicing in the state of Wisconsin for several years at varying levels of care - I'm excited to open up my practice to better help and the online community here. I started working in the outpatient world working predominantly with adults struggling with addiction and co-occurring disorders in Milwaukee. After working with adults individually, in groups, and in a day treatment I decided to shift my focus to adolescents in a partial hospitalization setting. Though I enjoyed working with adolescents and grew considerably as a clinician my family brought me back to my home town and working with adults with a strong focus in trauma.
I'd been interested in psychology and counseling from an early age but mentors at CU Boulder, Mount Mary University, and clinical supervisors in Milwaukee helped to shape my counseling style. I align strongly with an Adlerian approach to counseling - one that sees the individual as a whole - not divisible into mind, body, or a list of diagnosis. I believe that community and relationships are the way to health and sustaining ones self in the face of an ever changing and complicated world.
I know I can offer a steady hand, two open ears, and a wealth of experience in counseling across the life span. I use evidence based approaches ranging from CBT, DBT, ERP for anxiety and OCD, and PE for treatment of trauma. Regardless of the treatment approach I know that the relationship between myself and the people I work with is the most important part of moving towards living a healthy, more connected life.

Jon is fantastic. He’s a great listener and his advice, encouragement, and positivity helped get me through some tough times. 10/10 recommend!
He is great and always there when I need him
I was sceptical to the idea of online counselling, however, working with Jon has been extremely valuable. He was great from the first meeting, always attentive, never judgmental. He asks the right questions, helps me dig deeper, recognises thought patterns and lifts my darkness. I really appreciate Jon's combination of empathy and practicality and I will always be grateful for his help.
Jon has been a very solid guy. He is very professional, but at the same time you can be 100% yourself while talking to him. He makes you feel very comfortable and brings a different perspective to the way I think. He has listened to me laugh, cry, be angry and frustrated as well. But nevertheless he will always keep an open mind and remind me about how things are the way they are. He replies on a timely matter and is always on time for sessions. I really am very grateful and lucky that Jon was matched as he has helped me over the past few months. Thank you so much.
Jon is a professional who has helped me immensely, very supportive in session and via email
Counseling with Jon Jacobs has been very helpful for me. Before starting it I had doubts around therapy and sharing my issues with somebody but I am very grateful he turned out to be such a professional.
Finding BetterHelp and working with Mr. Jon have been a blessing to say the least. Living in a place with minimum to no access to good therapy for me, having difficulty trusting and opening up to therapists, triggers, childhood traumas, depression, and anxiety had made my life stuck, my world smaller, and subject to emotional and physical pain. The amount of patience, support, and understanding I received from Mr. Jon is beyond me; he listened, guided, and helped me gain better perspective, understand my past, myself, and become aware and mindful. He did so without even opening the camera -which I'm not comfortable with- His respect and working around my conservative Islamic believes was a key factor for me. I'm ever thankful for him as I'm starting to experience life again. My journey of improvement here is almost 8 months but it surly continuous.
I'm glad to have Jon for helping me in my situation. I can open up to him completely and feel that he takes my concerns seriously. He gives great impulses to reflect on and he's always there to work together with me on various aspects of my problems. Thanks to him by my side I can already see big improvements concerning my situation.
I have been having counseling for a little while with Jon and know no matter what I bring to the chats or video chat he is very understanding and helpful. His wealth of experience and knowledge has helped me to start to deal with my problems and start to open up to others around me.
This is so helpful :)
