About me

Hello! My name is Dr. Tomlin, and I am a licensed and nationally certified professional counselor and traumatologist. I specialize in various modalities, including strength-based coaching, existentialism, multicultural awareness, and cognitive behavioral therapy. I am passionate about helping others achieve social, emotional, and behavioral improvements and providing them with the fundamental tools to overcome life struggles so they can prosper. Life is full of obstacles and difficult circumstances, which can feel overwhelming and all-consuming. Navigating these unique, daily challenges can be isolating, leaving you second-guessing everything and spiraling with sadness, frustration, and exhaustion.

I am passionate about helping others achieve social, emotional, and behavioral improvements and providing them with the fundamental tools to overcome life struggles so they can prosper.

I have an extensive educational background that has given me the strong foundation I host today. I earned a B.S. in Religion and completed an Ed.D. in Community Care and Counseling Traumatology in 2021. In addition, I graduated with an M.S.Ed. in School and Mental Health Counseling from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA. Along with this, I hold many certifications and licensures, including:

• Licensed Professional Counselor in Pennsylvania
• PA Educational Specialist I Elementary and Secondary School Counselor K-12
• Life Coaching
• Advanced Life Coaching
• Leadership Professional Coaching
• Marriage Coaching
• Health & Wellness Coaching
• ASCA School Data Specialist

Throughout my professional career, I held numerous counseling roles, where I have been able to augment incredibly positive, life-transforming results for my patients. However, I am dedicated to helping people of all ages, such as adults seeking guidance for establishing healthy coping mechanisms and direction through challenging life circumstances.

I give clients the maximum ability to grow into well-established, emotionally aware, happy individuals who can make it through any life challenge.

When looking for a qualified counselor, the right person goes much deeper than the degree they hold or the roles they have been in. Experience and education certainly matter, but you must go beyond what the documents say. So, what does it mean to be an extraordinary counselor? It means being patient, innovative, showing empathy, advocating, and always being respectful. It is about mastering the development of therapeutic alliances to instill hope, value, and trust and opening the doors for endless opportunities for the person seeking support. Not everyone has what it takes or the suitable characteristics to be that reliable person. But I do, and I aim to use that ability to better the lives of as many people as possible.

Nothing makes me happier than being able to guide others towards fostering empowerment to overcome difficulties. I continually improve my methods to provide patients with the most innovative counseling services. I am entirely committed to working with my patients every step of the way in their self-development journey and giving them solidifying confidence that they are in the best hands to reach optimal personal growth.

Can't say much more than the perfect ratings. Talking to John is like talking to a friend that I've known for years. Nothing is forced, and I never feel pressured to open up about issues I'm not ready to breach. 10/10

Jonathan is very professional. I remember when I first started these sessions I said,
I couldn't breath, I felt myself a failure and I was very anxious... Now I'm enjoying my life fully

I had a wonderful experience with Jonathan over my month working with him. He was kind and patient and made me feel listened to. I appreciate how he would relate with real life examples and give me tangible goals to work on. It always felt like my well being was first and foremost. Overall it was an amazing experience. Thank you Jonathan!
