As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, I help people to identify their goals, overcome obstacles, meet challenges, and thrive. I take an active and engaged role with my clients by asking questions, offering alternative perspectives, and suggesting new ways of thinking about issues that may be getting in the way of living a more satisfying life. I have 6 years working with people dealing with depression anxiety, self-esteem, trauma, PTSD, and relationship experiences. I have served on Active Duty in the Air Force and enjoy working with military members and their family. I have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults, transgender, and LGBT community. I utilize individual, family, and couples counseling as appropriate. I customize my treatment to meet the needs and goals of the individual and/or family dynamic.
My treatment approach is client centered. My belief is that all clients are unique and therefore, I work towards making all my clients feel comfortable and understood. I am very warm and caring and find that building a trusting relationship between client and counselor is truly the foundation of a successful counseling relationship. I am trained in in psychodynamic, solution focused therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. Because no two clients are alike, I work to form a treatment plan in coordination with the client so that we can have the most successful counseling relationship possible.
Congratulations on taking the first step in a therapeutic relationship. It takes courage to take the first step and seek counseling. I look forward to beginning a rewarding therapeutic relationship with my clients.

In the short time that I have received help from Joseph, I have had such a supportive and wonderful experience. Joseph is relatable and funny. He is understanding, helps me recognize unhealthy thinking patterns, and provides me with productive feedback to encourage and facilitate my growth. I am grateful to have Joseph as my counselor and would highly recommend him to anyone. I look forward to continuing services with him.
Joseph Barry literally changed my life in the best ways possible. He is the reason I talk so highly of therapy, I credit the space he holds for me as an integral part of my growth and success.
Insightful and thorough. Patient in communication while also being able to offer important advice and provide clarity.
I feel very lucky to be able to work with Joseph. He listens compassionately and offers different perspectives on what I’m going through. He gives me healthy food for thought consistently.
Understand where my thoughts coming from & reasons.
Joseph encouraged me to think through issues
I've had a number of interactions with Joseph now, and I have been impressed with how quickly he has been able to understand some really complicated family issues I've been struggling with. He has been a great listener, and has helped me stay on a productive path. I started my sessions with a specific topic in mind and wasn't sure how long I would stick with counseling. Now I plan to continue beyond my initial purpose just for me.
He was really great! Very smart and super helpful for me. I’ve never had counselling before but I am very glad I started
I love him!
