About Me

I am a professional counselor licensed in Wisconsin. As your counselor, my first goal is to be a positive, professional support that you can rely on when times get tough. I want you to know that I care about you and what you're going through from the very first time we meet all the way to the end. If you want a counselor who can make you feel heard and supported while also providing you with new ideas in a helpful, nonjudgmental way so that you can move forward in resolving whatever is troubling you, then I may be a good fit.

As for my experience, I have helped people from all ends of the wellness spectrum. These include people struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, identity issues, life stressors and relationship issues with a partner, children, family, coworkers and so on. I have also worked with people whose lives are getting hit hard by the overwhelming emotions related to loneliness, sadness, hurt, confusion, pain, loss and so much more. Lastly, I like helping people gain a new sense of direction and purpose for their life when they're feeling like they have no hope of a future, especially during times of major and minor life transitions and changes.

With me as your counselor, you get a warm and supportive ally in your corner. I have used many different therapeutic approaches with individuals over the years because I believe there is no one-size fits all in counseling. That's why I customize my counseling techniques and the way I interact with you based on your personality, needs and goals. Being able to meet you where you are at is definitely one of my specialties.

Last, but not least, I am a counselor who can be serious, yet lighthearted when the situation calls for it. I want you to enjoy our sessions together AND feel like you are making progress towards your personal short and long term goals. I try not to overcomplicate things, so if you are unsure of what to expect in a counseling interaction, don't sweat it. The way I like to view counseling is by comparing it to a research conversation. You are the field expert on your life - no one else knows your life and what's happened in it better than you. As such, your thoughts, feelings and experiences in life are your best data. And, this is where I come in. My specialization is in helping you analyze and interpret your data so that you can better utilize the information within to make the resolutions and adjustments to your life for the better.

Needless to say, I look forward to doing my best to make a positive impact in your life.

All my best,
Josh

Great counselor listens well and is always very respectful.

After having bad counseling experiences in the past, working with Josh has been a breath of fresh air. He listens, connects, and advises in equal measure. His responses are timely, even when he needs to take extra time for longer responses, and his words have always been help when I needed it, and guidance when I was ready to grow.

The guidance and compassion received in just two sessions is providing hope for the future. I am so incredibly grateful and wish I would have reached out sooner.

Josh is an incredible therapist. He meets me exactly where I am consistently to help me grow and feel better about myself and my life. He gives me tools that are exactly what I need at the right time.

I really appreciate having a therapist that listens so well, but helps therapy to not become a venting session. I’ve had incredible progress in coping with my anxiety/depression and I’m doing better both professionally and personally. Prior to Better Help I had a few counselors/therapists that just weren’t the right connection. I feel comfortable being completely myself with Josh and I always feel heard, seen, and understood.

Josh is an amazing person who genuinely cares. He has pushed me to be a better version of myself, and I hope everyone can get a counselor as kind and thoughtful as him.

Josh has been great since day 1! Very easy to talk to and actually listens. Not once did I feel judged or felt uncomfortable. Josh has helped me with my divorce and self esteem issues. Thank you Josh

Josh is the MAN! He understand where you're coming from and does a great job listening, then coming up with productive feedback. He is able to pick up on things you maybe couldn't, and makes the whole experience positive and enjoyable. I couldn't imagine working with anyone else.

Josh is very good at listening to what I am saying and actually hearing what I say. And if he offers a recap or suggestion that doesn't quite fit well with me, I tell him that won't work and he is 100% receptive to me disagreeing with him and then we can pivot to a different suggestion or idea.

I am an inconstant and kind of crummy patient to have. BUT JOSH has done a FANTASTIC job at still being able to respond to me disparate and messy messages with very insightful and practical advise.

Its odd but even in the first message I felt things clicking and paths to salvation from my more troublesome problems appearing before me. He brings in a very pragmatic mindset with an emphasis on MEASURED goals. He isn't your fluff and make you feel like everything is good counselor. He is one that will make sure you are being honest with yourself and that you maintain on the course of growth.

This guy is amazing. Really talented and gifted counselor. I'm fortunate to have paired with him and he's really helped put things in my life into perspective for me. Thanks Josh!

Josh is extremely knowledgeable and professional. I am amazed at how the goals I have for therapy are being met so quickly due to his help. If I would’ve known therapy could be this great, I would’ve started years ago!! I highly recommend him and can’t say enough good things!

Written by S.T. on Aug 01, 2020 after therapy with Josh for 2 weeks on issues concerning stress, anxiety

Josh is great to talk to. I always feel comfortable discussing things and if there is something that I would ever feel uncomfortable discussing, I know he would understand my boundaries. Josh is very intuitive and always seems to be able to read what is going on subconsciously even in my messages when I haven't always realized it. Having him as a resource has been incredibly valuable.

Josh is great! I’ve only been seeing him for a couple of weeks and he’s my first therapist ever. He empathizes with me and listens even when I’m rambling on about nonsense. I don’t feel judged and he’s great with using analogies.
