About me

Welcome, I am Irene Freeman, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Missouri.

In a life of challenging experiences reaching out for support can be difficult. Finding the right professional "fit" is important for fostering trust and personal growth. I emphasize the perspective of non-judgmental acceptance. My counseling style is deeply interactive and focused on the dynamics of personal experience, relationships, thoughts, and the bodies we inhabit. Compassion for ourselves is the root of growth and is fostered by compassionate connections with others.

I earned a Master of Social Work degree from Missouri State University and have worked in the mental health field for 11 years. In that time I have been privileged to work with clients of all ages across a broad variety of needs. Depression, anxiety, interpersonal issues, stress, and trauma are of particular interest. Sessions often focus on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in a trauma-informed environment and integrate elements of EMDR, mindfulness, self-acceptance, and the dynamics of body/mind experiences.

Each therapeutic relationship is unique and defined by the people in it. Creating a new therapy suited to a client's experiences, needs, and goals is essential to building a strong and respectful connection.

I look forward to meeting you!

I like Irene’s relatability the best. I feel like I’m speaking to a real life human being, not a robot or authority figure. The vibe is always very open and allows for a lot of direction/control on my part, which I feel is important for victims of trauma. I have certain things that, in the past, I’ve had many therapists judge me harshly for. I don’t ever get a sense of judgement here though. Would recommend for neurodivergent and/or complex trauma people.

I can’t say enough about Irene! I started meeting with her weekly last year and I can’t believe what a better person I have become due to our weekly sessions.

My brain is a Non-Euclidian ever shifting maze. Irene can make sense of it and simplify what's important

I'm really able to engage with therapy for the first time in my life and a big part of why is Irene's accepting style. I'm so grateful BetterHelp matched us. Thank you so much.
