About me

Hi and welcome to the wonderful, yet sometimes overwhelming world of therapy!

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and obtained my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Augsburg College, located in Minneapolis, MN. I have nearly 11 years of experience working with people from different backgrounds from my own and have concerns that impact their lives whether that’s a mental illness ranging from Bipolar Disorder to Borderline Personality Disorder, struggles with addiction, general anxiety, or wanting to explore the next step in their life path.

I believe that having a strong working relationship with my clients is critical to the efficacy of therapy. I try to do this by getting to know my clients as human, with unique qualities and experiences, rather than the “problems” paperwork tends to view someone as. I see my clients from a strengths perspective and understand that they have done, and do the best that they can with the skills they have acquired during life. Life is a fine balance of understanding that while how one approaches life may currently be effective, there may be room for improvement and change.

Practicing from a trauma informed lens is critical to the therapeutic process as many of us have experienced trauma to some extent. I also realize that trauma, while there is a clinical definition of it, is defined by the person who in impacted by the triggers, thoughts, and emotions that are a result of that trauma. Additionally, how the world impacts someone based on their gender identity, race, sexual orientation, religion, cultural background, etc., is important to my work with people. Race, homelessness, poverty, mental illness, etc., is all intertwined and it would be a disservice to not take those things into consideration when developing goals and talking about concerns.

I enjoy working with people and feeling that I can be of service to help someone form a life worth living as defined by them. If my approach seems to fit your needs, please reach out and we can determine the next steps.

Josie has been the best therapist I could ask for! Not only does she listen, but she actively works to understand and talk through issues with me. My wellbeing and relationships with others have improved because of her.
