About me

Hi! My name is Judi and I live in Nebraska! Yes, I am a true-blue Cornhusker no matter what! I have had two careers -- they are closely related. My first career was in Human Resources. I worked for several companies in HR and I also had my own business where I provided HR services for small companies on a temporary -- "as needed" -- basis. Then, I returned to college and earned my Master's Degree in Counseling. I thought I would use that degree to move into the field of Employee Relations. However, life took me in a different direction and I started a career in both substance abuse and mental health counseling. I have now been working in these areas for 23 years. I have worked in both outpatient and residential settings. I worked for the Drug Court for nine years as well. I have worked with people of all ages and from all walks of life. I have done a lot of work with corrections. I have facilitated group counseling sessions and I have been an MRT instructor. My approach is always to listen first and try to help my client identify the real problem(s). Then, together we brainstorm some possible solutions. I will support my client's choices, but I am not afraid to respectfully point out discrepancies between what someone says he or she wants and what he or she is willing to do to obtain that goal. Sometimes, we -- all of us -- cannot see how we are getting in our own way. I look forward to the opportunity of working with you! Judi

Overall therapy is a new experience for me and I only wish I worked with Judi sooner. She is fantastic in every sense of the word. She’s responsive, intelligent, and caring. I’ve asked for her opinion many times and those are the replies I value the most. I’m fortunate to find BetterHelp and Judi!

Judi Biniamow has been a great person to meet and express some of my concerns with. She seems interested in giving me tools to help with my perception and the ways I decide to act on them. I have many worksheets to help me learn more about myself and concepts to aid in my personal growth. I appreciate when I am talked to at the level I have been so far. I’m reasonably intelligent so it’s nice to have an intelligent conversation about self help and guided help. I’m also a naturally confessional person, so it’s nice to have an appropriate place for these conversations; my friends and family aren’t equipped to help in that way. I also feel, it can be selfish to assume that the people we go to for help aren’t struggling with the very same things. You can’t count on people who can’t swim, to help you when your drowning. But you can learn to swim, and that’s what I’m trying to learn.

This interaction gives me the tools to turn around and help the people in my life that haven’t taken the first steps on their journey yet. Thank you!
