Judith Andrews

About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker registered in the state of Michigan, a Nationally Certified Counselor and a member of the National Association of Social Workers. I have over 15 years of experience as a therapist. I attended the University of Michigan where I studied Anthropology, Economics, and Sociology and went on to graduate with Honors with a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work specializing in Individual and Family Therapy.

I have experience working with a wide variety of people experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship and family/parenting issues. I have a special interest in attachment, adoption, young adults, and women's issues. My work has been conducted in both inpatient and community clinics as well as private practice. I have also conducted support groups for parents and given presentations to community organizations to advance the cause of education on mental health, social issues and social injustice.

My style can be described as empathic and client centered attempting to focus on your needs and looking toward finding the sources and solutions to problems. I believe in working with the whole person including physical, emotional, and environmental concerns and may discuss not only your mental health but your body's health as well. My therapeutic approach includes Cognitive Behavioral, Psychotherapy, and Family Systems perspectives in a safe and nonjudgmental space. It is my belief that exploring the many aspects of one's functioning can help to achieve optimum health both physically and emotionally. The goal is to help you move forward in a productive way and to get past the obstructions that may be holding you back. It takes courage to seek out new opportunities and to take the first steps to make changes.

It is my hope that if we work together for a week or a year, you will benefit from our time together, for that is the purpose of the work.

I look forward to working with you!

Judith has helped my family out in need of crisis and gave good suggestions on how to handle my family and pointed us in the right direction over the holidays. Couldn't ask for a better counselor to get my family through the hard times. Very much appreciate the help and guidance.
