Dr. Judith Mathewson

(PhD, LPC, LMHC)

About Me

My name is Judith Mathewson, PhD, Licensed Professional Counselor (in Arkansas and Alaska) and Licensed Mental Health Counselor (in Florida). I have taken a non-traditional career path from special needs educator, career counselor, elementary and high school teacher, US Air Force Veteran, Hospice volunteer for Veterans and their families. I have worked with couples, teens, children, and women with self-esteem, grief and loss, trauma, depression, anxiety, and career challenges. I believe we can make progress with strengths-based coaching. My counseling orientation includes Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

I have done extensive research on Veterans and individuals who have experienced trauma. I am a lifelong learner and encourage, mentor, and support those who have the courage to become vulnerable in counseling - growing emotionally, spiritually, and psychologically; to become your best, authentic self.

I look forward to guiding you on your life's journey. Together we can work on skills to take you from surviving to thriving!

To your health,

Judith Mathewson, PhD, LPC

Dr. Judith is warm, supportive, encouraging, and has a lot of clinical experience and education about traumatic stress, which I really value in a therapist. She is easy to talk with, offers helpful resources, and demonstrates that she cares. I'm happy to have found her here!

I’ve been working with Dr. Mathewson for about 2 weeks so far. I’m beginning to see myself in a new light and understand myself more every day. There is still a lot to do, but Rome wasn’t built in a day. She has been a great help and I appreciate her. I would recommend her to anyone.

Within one session Dr. Mathewson really pinpointed what I needed to hear and see. I felt completely safe and opened up very easily. I have already recommended her and BetterHelp.

I have never had counseling where I felt like my counselor stayed involved after the clock stopped tickling. This feels like a coach, guiding me steadily
