Hi, I'm Julia, and I'm passionate about helping folks overcome trauma and navigate challenging situations to find safety and purpose.
I've been working in the healing world for over a decade, and became licensed to provide mental health services as a social worker in 2012.
My practice involves working with others to find freedom from major life struggles - aka, getting "un-stuck". Stuck-ness can look like many things: depression, anxiety, guilt, shame, unstoppable thought-cycles, persistent negative beliefs, unwanted behaviors or habits, addiction, relationship troubles, even difficulty with focus or motivation. I believe firmly that everything we experience is happening for a reason - that we think or feel or do things because of something important. Sometimes the reason itself is clear - a specific circumstance or trauma. Sometimes, though, the "why" is evasive. No matter where you are in your awareness and process, I believe your mind and body and memories hold the keys to your freedom, and I am committed to helping you in your discovery and healing.
When you work with me, you'll have the space to speak your mind and feel your feelings. Some days we'll discuss the here-and-now, others we'll dive deep into the heart of the issue. No matter what, we'll always focus on what you say are your most important needs, and we'll always find a way to laugh, even just a little - after all, counseling should help you feel *better*!
I consider myself your listener, your sounding board, your cheerleader, your resource, and your advocate. As for my background...I draw primarily from client-centered modalities, including Narrative, Cultural Somatics, Relational-Cultural, Internal Family Systems, and Solution-Focused, and I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and mindfulness meditation. My approach is feminist and anti-oppressive, meaning I believe systems and structures impact our relationships to ourselves and to others, and I believe you are the expert on your own life. I weave the science of neurobiology and trauma with my strengths-based approach to therapy, following every client's needs and utilizing compassion to develop supportive and mutual relationships.
As a whole, I believe everyone has the knowledge and ability to overcome even the most disempowering problems, and my truly collaborative approach will open up space for safety, creativity, and hope.

These quotes represent just a few of the many positive reviews that we have received for Julia D'Agostino. We don’t pay anyone to provide their review and they are all made voluntarily. Some people's experience receiving therapy with BetterHelp might be different.
I first started therapy with Julia back in 2020 & I had already tried about 3 other therapists, but Julia was the one I felt was someone I could relate to and felt as if she could help me grow. I stopped therapy for awhile due to financial issues & came right back to BetterHelp just recently hoping I could get Julia back & I was able to! She welcomed be back with open arms & I can’t wait to start working with her again. She’s understanding, she listens & has such a great approach to therapy!!
Julia is phenomenal. She’s an excellent listener and has helped me weather some serious life changes. Not sure the state I’d be in without her guidance and words.
Julia is such a wonderful wonderful human, her support has been invaluable and helped me work through some very sad moments and dark days over the past months. She is very kind, creative with her suggestions, positive and encouraging.
Her approach to therapy seems to incorporate embodied cognition to a certain degree which is extremely helpful to someone with severe anxiety issues (like me). It's wonderful to be able to talk with someone with so much knowledge of this approach.
Julia is amazing. I can't speak her praises enough.
I was afraid to start therapy. Juila is amazing in just a few sessions she has given me confidence to open up and find my true self. I appreciate the way she pauses to think about what I say and finds a exercise that helps me in ways I would of never imagined. She makes me laugh and her gentleness is much appreciated.
The best counselor I have had. She really listens and is very understanding I highly recommend her.
Julia is your MVP. Y’all have no idea how lucky you are to have her.
You ever wonder how it would be to have a cosmopolitan, savvy, wise friend who loves you like a drunken girl horde in a bar bathroom fixing your hair, brows, and relationship problems, but like in a professional way? Like with multiple degrees in you’re gonna be ok? That’s worth its weight in gold.
I totally want to emphasize in a professional way, but there’s a certain type of boost you can only get from someone who *gets* you.
Julia is one smart lady and a super nice one as well. You’ll be in good hands.
When I started using this app, I was concerned that I might not be able to get the help I need or that I might have trouble finding a therapist I felt comfortable with, but that's no longer a concern. I feel like I was matched with a counselor that treats me with respect and provides great insight into the issues I'm dealing with, helping me come up with techniques to handle issues that I never would have thought of. It hasn't been long, but I can already tell how these small changes have affected my mood and daily life. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who's thought about therapy or who's curious if it's the right move for them!
Julia has been wonderful thus far, and I am excited to keep working with her.
Julia is a joy. She is an incredibly attentive listener and will offer insights that are heartfelt and poignant. I have found her questions and ways of reframing things to be very helpful and am grateful for her understanding and patience in helping me better understand my emotions and behaviors.
Julia is lovely, understanding and very supportive. Very happy to have been matched with her.
I am so grateful to have been paired with Julia as my therapist on BetterHelp. I feel so supported and understood by her, and within the short time we've been working together I feel like I have made a lot of progress. She is very attentive, warm, open-minded, and encouraging, and I've never had such a strong connection with any therapist in my past. Thank you so much Julia! :)
