About Me

Hello, welcome! My name is Julia Villarreal, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I have worked in multiple settings including: a non-profit mental health agency, LGBTQ+ counseling center, a substance abuse treatment center, and schools. I attended The University of Texas at San Antonio for my Bachelor's degree in Psychology and attended California State University, Chico for my Master's of Science in Psychology with the focus of Marriage and Family Therapy. I am always seeking to learn new information in the psychology and mental health field by going to workshops and trainings.

I would describe my approach as empathetic, warm, goal oriented, empowering, non-judgmental, and client centered. I utilize the following approaches in my practice : Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused, Mindfulness, Psychodynamic, Attachment, and CBT. People are all unique, which is why I use individualized treatment and goals to cater to the differences, challenges, and strengths of each client.

I am passionate about working in the mental health field and love to work in a collaborative way with clients. I would be happy to get to know you and explore some of the things that inspire and challenge you. I know that reaching out for help takes a lot of courage, and I am here to go through this journey with you!

Very understanding person, she will listen to you and try to work with you! She's so sweet and checks-in regularly to make sure I am doing okay, and I really appreciate the amount of support she's given me, even though we haven't had that many sessions. :)
